The problem is in the way the game IMPORTS the old settings you had from 2.07. Nothing more! That's the major headache. If you go in and manually re-map all the functions you'll get everything back. It's relatively easy (I'm not THAT tech-savvy but I understood how to do it), but you have to know that you CAN do it (i.e. that the display is interactive, not just a display).

Well, it was NOT the way the game imported the settings.

I D/L'd a fresh copy & had trouble, there were no settings from 2.07 to import.

There were keyboard commands that were blank on the first fresh D/L & those were fixed by D/L ing it again.

The Throttle had to be mapped to Z-axis (fixed the no throttle)

The secondary weapons had problems too selecting & firing both keyboard mapping problems set to "none"

The GV selecting smoke or HE or AP used to be the Backspace key, now it's the backslash key. There were other minor annoyances with the view hat etc. all fixed with tinkering & two fresh installs of the game. Had nothing to do with the way the settings were imported for me, I'm sure they did for someone, but not me or others I spoke with.

I Have X52 And NO Problems

Howdy

Here is the thing.....  I figured out way back  that is is much easier to map Buttons In saitek seteup then ... trying to corrdinate the setup between Saitech and AH.    So when this new version came In all I had to do Is remap my fire Keys  (KeyMapper) and a few small things back to default keys.  F =fire B =Secondary N = Both Backspace = Toggel weapons.

So the way my set up works: I set My stick buttons Function as keys!  So write down what keys do what in AH  and the program those onto the buttons In saitek.   I have my 2 stage triger to Key F halfpressed and N full press.

Dont Bother trying to Map Buttons Etc in AH!!!  Just reset keys to default and map those in Saitec,,,,    only other thing U have to do is map in your Axis' if those didn't import correctly!

Hope that helps
Cheers

Oh just so U know I also have CH rudder peddals (with broken Toe Brakes) and IR Traker 3 Pro... plugged in... and they working fine as well.

Well, with the beta, it didn't import anything for me, and my stick just plain doesn't work. Oh, and I remapped everything several times, and it still doesn't work. The update functions the same way. For me anyway.

Reacher, contact me in game. I can help you I'm pretty sure, I have talked four or five people through it. You will have to have a basic understanding of how the button mapping works of course, but the problems seem to be centered around a couple of things. Loading the default map if you use the in game map & imported settings or re-mapping keys for the other.

Get with me tomorrow if you want me to help, I will be glad to help you or anyone else with the saitek X-52 problems.

OK....for those of you who are using CH HOTAS setup I've had problems also.

What I did.  In control manager I dloaded my Map for AH.  Throttle stuck wide open dint work.  Went to joystick....on my map in control manager I have the Throttle as control device 3.  I also have the axis in control manager set to slider 1.  In aces high I set throttle to control device 3, throttle 1 selected input as slider it worked. In Control Manager my throttle axis was slider also....all I did was match them.

Fire buttons did not work also (primary, fire both, secondary.)  Went into keymapping in Aces High (with my control manager enabled) and mapped they keys in control manager into key mapping in Aces High.

All is well.  Calibrated and allwork fine.  You'll find initially some things didn't work.....they just had to be mapped into keymapping in AH.  For instance Fire Primary, Secondary etc. had no keys mapped in aces high.  Just match them with the Contol Manager Map keystroke for those functions and you're in!

My X52 works fine.......... nooooo problem I have a mix of stuff modelled in the SST profiler and a mix set up in AH............

had to reset throttle, rpm, view hat and base switches.

AH 2.08 (as I understand it) never attempted to import stuff from the SST profiler or any particular profile............ it imports the old settings from 2.07 and the DX settings of the Joystick  but looses the view hat as an analog and dumps the view settings on the JS base buttons.  Basically 2.08 has lost the ability to read the hat as an anolog out put and so the view hat has to be reset using the dx button code.

The X52 out puts dx button number profiles for all its buttons and view hats. Unfortunately new dx button numbers could never be "profiled" or addressed to the mouse functions** or banded and profiled analogs (rotaries and slider) which have to be set with actual key strokes or macros.

Do not confuse the AH modes with X52 modes they are completely different. X52 mode rotary is totally none Dx freindly no game software using a dx interface will see it.

AH modes perform the same type of purpose but require another input to select them. I never use them..life just becomes toooo complicated the only stuff I switch modes on is stuff configured in the SST profiler.

** actually the mouse wheel does fleetingly out put a dx button number but its is so fleeting as to be unreliable. Hence better to profile it with a button and set "hold down" or repeat stroke acordingly.

Ill get everything back?, so it wont run at 1 FPS anymore?

The instant I plug in my Saitek rumble thing, AH drops to using 2 or 3% CPU usage, FPS is a solid one, and vox sounds like a guy on acid vomiting baby chickens.

Removing a usb hub and starting game with no joysticks (I use 2, both saitek, both worked fine before), AH runs great. I even wasted time with the reinstall from scratch ritual, which resulted in the afore mentioned wasted time.

Re-mapping accomplishes jack she-it, then again having a working stick is a bit useless at 1 FPS.

It goes beyond that.  think about it.  your discreationary money will go somewhere.  what are the alternatives?

real flying: very pricey and consumes gobs of time and you don't make enemies and even if you did you couldn't kill them and then heckle them afterwards.
Boating:  you have to gas up the boat, ice up the boat, beer up the boat, wait for your friends who are never timely to arrive and then enjoy them drinking up all of your beer because they were late and didn't bring their own.
Shooting:  spend an hour at the range spend three hours cleaning weapons.
Hog hunting: see boating replace boat with ATV. add insect bites.
Golf: green's fees, crowded courses, the mulligan crews heckling you (that would be me and my friends btw)
Bowling:  (shudders)
Wifey:  hmmmm, ok.  but afterwards we have to walk down the aisles at home depot looking at fans, lighting and window treatments hand in hand.

you can see that there really aren't too many viable pastimes that are as economical and entertaining as this game, warts and all.  pay up you'll be glad you did.
