KNIVES HANDED IN AT POLICE STATIONS
DOZENS of knives have been handed into Sussex Police stations during the first 48 hours of the National Knives Amnesty, which runs until the end of June.
Sealed red bins have been placed at 31 police stations across Sussex, allowing people to deposit unwanted weapons without fear of prosecution.
The aim is to reduce the availability of knives and sharp bladed instruments and to dissuade those, usually young men, who habitually carry them.
Checks at just five Sussex stations confirm that at least 60 knives have been handed in so far, including one large hunting knife handed in at Hastings police station.
A Force spokesman said: 'This is an encouraging start, but we hope there will be many more to come over the weekend and through the coming month.'
Totals to date for each station:
Peacehaven – 10 (non-domestic knives), Seaford – 28 (26 domestic and two weapons), Newhaven – 6 (five domestic), Lewes – 1 (non-domestic knife), Uckfield 12 – (seven domestic), Crowborough – 5 (weapons), Hailsham – 6 (domestic knives).

Good luck!  I started a thread about this a week or so ago, and it was mysteriously deleted.  I guess knives are a touchy subject.

Don't forget to get all the forks too...Those sharp points could really do some damage.

Can we issue chopsticks all around?  Or would someone poke his eye out?

Fortunately the US Government and our various state and local governments here in the US never do anything pointless and stupid, so we're standing on good solid ground when we launch criticisms at the citizenry of the UK.
