Whats 114 without humidity though other than hot, dry air???? BTW I will be in Phoenix on the evening of the 14th until the 16th. Should be a great time to be there. Going from 90 plus with close to 100% humidity to Houston which is about the same as here only with the Gulf winds coming north then off to Phoenix in the middle of nowhere.....Geez I can't stand summer time business travel.

Besides those big mist fans you are talking about will not cover the area alone that you are talking about. You will need 3-4 to get that area covered.

They are a little on the high dollar side as well...$2750 each.

One of the best ways to stay cool is long sleeve light weight shirts and pants with lots of water and a fan blowing the air around you. Just ask your grandparents about that. My grandfather would laugh at me doing yard work in 100 degree temps with shorts and a T-shirt sweating my arse off when he was wearing the described outfit and a hat and just stopping for water a few times an hour and staying cool in the heat and humidity.

I think those oscillating mist fans like the College/ NFL teams use at the ends of the benches may work well and be somewhat cheaper than Bigofans. Probably easier to set up and move around as well.

They are not cheaper but are much easier to move around.

That looks like one of those neck brace things from that sci fi movie... where if they ran away to far it blew their head off.

Oh yeah here it is:

The misters and fans at the Broken Spoke in Sturgis are great.
Just send them all up there during bike week, then tell them to chill in their memories when they get home. :)

Get a popup canopy, attach walls on 3 sides of it. Not the annoying versions with poles, ropes, and anchors... they make them so you just take it out of the back and literally pop it up. 5 minutes tops.

Get an industrial fan, 3 or 4 ft diameter. Get some copper tubing, add T's or just drill holes and epoxy, and install nozzles down the length of it. Bend it into a spiral. This was the hardest part for me.. kinked the tubing. Seal one end of it, attach a garden hose to the other end.

Works like a champ, and can be done for well under $100. If you want the water extremely cold, just keep the bulk of the water hose in a cooler filled with ice. Same trick they use on jockey boxes for picnic kegs.

These work too. But you need something you can freeze them in for 10 minutes or so every once in awhile.

Those misting fans and a portable shade (made out of pvc and a tarp) are what you need.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

It's gonna sound gay, but when I have to work in 100+ temperatures, I take a damp hand towel and position it on my head so it falls down my back.  Put a headband on over it, then wear a baseball cap (bill forward, thank you very much).

Yes, I look like a shiek looking for my camel, but it serves to let me work for several hours in that heat without problem.  I stop every hour or so and dampen the towel again.

It's cheap.  It's easy.  And they may laugh at you or beat the livin snot outta you for suggesting it, but it works.

I knew I should have kept my trap shut.  hehe

Well, when it comes to my personal well-being, I will forego being fashionable.  And yes, I get a number of stares and giggles from the neighborhood children.

Much like here. :D
