RTO .......Ummmm Ouch :cry  I have had a few planes that looked like that, I just got some balsa and rebuilt them... That is up to the point on one of them that had the push rod clip come off the elevator, looped up into a fog bank two times and then came down and burried it's engine 6" into hard dirt.  Not allot left of it, had balsa shards shoved through the gas tank. :)

Also had a guy that flew with me that had a scale modle of some form of Spitfire.  We kept telling him to slow it down but he wouldn't listen and kept flying full throttle all the time. One day we were flying at marsh and he upped the spit, flew around for a couple minuits and RIP!  Off pop the wings. I have never heard shuch a sceam out of a .40 engine, he didn't even throttle back after the wings came off.   Wings fluttered slowly to the ground and the rest looked like a missile. It hit the mud sending up a 6' jet of water. All that was left was the stabalizers that marked the spot where he had to sink his arm up to his armpit just to get the engine and radio gear.

Sorry not trying to hijack the thread I just started typing and wellll...:)

Hey, why not get rid of "bad landings" or is that considered a collision too??  :rofl
I'd rather see all collisions "ON" friendly and enemy.  So there.   :t
Bring back the Night
Can you imagine game play with all collisions on! "Hey, move over-I am trying to land!"   reponse .... (insert explative) "I was here first"  :D
If I had the power, well  ...  let's just leave it at that.

Badhorse, you would have hated the $30 a month and the sim 6+ years ago, it was a top notch sim, even then. Be thankful for what you DO have now.  You have a right to state your position, but demanding to make this a sim that fits your needs when things don't go your way, will kill the whole thing for everyone.

If you want a user-definable "game" I can make you a copy of my "Gamestorm CD" with Air Warrior Classic. It has all kinds of cool settings and even has Offline Scenarios and stuff you can do.....  and, there is an "Easy" (Novice) setting, with no blackouts, no stalls...and I think, unlimited ammo!!  $2 plus S&H-to cover costs.
(not sure it works with XP-but is cool with WIN95 and 98.)

I did a google search for you, if ya want to try and find it for free...

Simple solution. Whenever you see that someone has collided with you, just bail out. If you want to die everytime someone else registers a collision, fine. I personally think that's an absolutely horrible idea. You want to die, fine; auger, bail, whatever, but don't ask that the rest of us get crappy gameplay simply because you can't understand how the system works. I think that if I manage to avoid a collision, that I should get away unscathed. Apparently a lot of people do, including the only guy with an opinion that matters.

All of these collision threads are stupid, but this one takes the cake.

c) In the case of (a) BOTH parties take catastrophic damage.

Might as well take the collisions out then.  That wouldn't change anything.  Collisions would become extremely rare, and would still cause whines.

On the other hand combat tactics would change as intentionally flying through your target would make hitting a piece of cake.

In short we need collisions as they are.  Man up and deal with it when you get one.  It doesn't matter that much.

Heck, in the 4 years I flew in AH I had less than 10 collisions.  I think the biggest problem is that people whine about the other guy not avoiding the collision for them.  They want to be able to focus on killing the other guy and whine when their focus gets them killed.

Keve may want to do a search on this one. I think its been, oh, a full 3 or 4 days since HT pointed out that he's already tried this in a previous game....and it was an unmitigated disaster since it INCREASED the number of HO attacks. That changed teh entire flight dynamic and made the arena uinsufferably frustrating for people who liked the strategy of ACM.

You guys who are frustrated with collsions -- please use the search key. This dead horse has been beaten into a soft paste, spread out in a thin layer over 4 counties.

The short version -- you get a collision message because you flew too close to him and hit him. If you dont want to collide, stop doing that.

It's no harder than that. That is the entire solution.

 Try it -- it works!

K-Ken please read my orignal post. I asked. (even said please twice). I did not demand.

Also I do appreciate this game. I wouldn't have sign on if I didn't enjoy it.  But I am frustrated with the collision model.

it isnt the matter of getting rid of it but giving both planes the damage. Pyro, or Hitech please give both planes damage, i really do not understand how you know who gets the damage and who doesnt. Just give both damage and that will discourage rams.

Epic, you dont really understand the internet....what you ask for is worse than what we have now. With you're suggestion, you would be exploding from collisions the other guys saw on his ocomputer when you're 500 feet away on your computer.

Sound like fun?

Here are the details....and these are only the threads HT actually responded to. If you look through the boards at all, you'll see one of these collision complaint threads every 5-7 days anymore.

here's one HiTech explained stuff in
Here's one of the most recent ones
And here's another one that has lats of deatil and HT comments

And as I said before, if you dont want to collide then stop hitting things. You wont collide anymore....I promise!

Still amazes me that people are so clueless about the internet.

Recently I was stuck flying with a satelite connection that gave me close to a 1000ms ping.  If HTC did what YOU wanted them to do, on your FE I would be 600' away, and you would get ram damage.  On YOUR computer, I would not be anywhere close to, I would be super far away, but on MY FE due to my horrible Internet Connection, I would see a RAM.

Ok, just to be clear.  If HTC did what you asked, you would get damage from players who see rams on their Computer, but you didn't.  Are you SURE that is what you want to happen?

They could be 1k out, and you would suddenly take damage from the ram.

THAT is what you want to happen??

Really???

Odd.

Sounds like a HORRIBLE idea to me.

Kudos to HTC.  The current ram model is the best thing that can be done until the internet takes a huge leap forward.

<----hands lute roll of TP to clean nose.

Turn friendly collisions on  kill shooter is on so why not  only downside would be upping same time but i'm sure that can be worked around such as once airborne it's active.  seems doable ,  already can external view a/c on ground but once airborne it is inactivated.
