Can we get the FLAK to be more intense...in WWII there was massive FLAK fields all across the map. Maybe Surround the Factories with AA guns that go up to a mile away from the factory, maybe a total of about 20-60 AA guns surrounding the factory. This would give a more realistic feeling to the bombers that bomb the factories... and maybe do the same to the HQ. This will solve some the problem of bombers taking out the factories without any problem. Back in WWII you could expect about 25 bombers to be downed by AA... this is of course is saying out of a formation of about 400 bombers. So can we get more AA guns to make the bombers job more diffficult?
If we are complaring WWII (RL), then you must also consider that things in AH must be 'to scale'. Granted, each sortie of bombers lost 25 or planes on a mission. But they had 300 planes, not 3 per sortie.
Yes, our bomb sites are more accurate than those in RL were. Yes, the AA is not as heavy as experienced in RL. But factor in the overall numbers of people actually engaged in RL and AH. How many millions of military personnel were available in RL; and, we have space in the main arena for, what, 750? With the smaller numbers we must make certain things more lethal to exact the 'equivalent' damage. So, you up three bombers instead of 300. Occassionally, you take some hits (some bad some not) and sometime you even lose a plane. But, the ratio of damage and loss to the number of planes in the air is reasonable (maybe not exactly accurate, but reasonable). But also keep in mind that in RL, I would bet that the majority of the bomber loses were to the fighters not the ack.
I am not saying that the ratio of RL involvement to AH involvement is an exact match, so please don't put words in my mouth. All I am pointing out is that to set up defenses commenusrate to RL, would exceed the bounds of the AH ratio. If you make the ACK that tough, then on a three bomber run, none fo the planes would come home. And that too, would be inaccurate. (Not to mention frustrating)
If I were to suggest anything that might be more like what you are requesting and still be 'reasonable', I would say that we should better defend the bases with mannable 5 inch puffy acks. Then place a permanent 'drone' fighter cap over the factory targets. When a bomber heads in for a milkrun, the drone can move and engage the bombers. The bomber then either must have an escort, or must fend off the drones first (or have a gunner in plane). Either way, it would make for some interesting changes and not exceed reasonableness.
This is just my opinion. But, you know what they say about opinions......
