We've had a gay person teaching in our schools before and it ended with him molesting grade school kids.

So gays molest kids now? You're going to be telling me they killed Jesus or are responsible for the 'New World Order'. Basically you're saying homosexuals are MORE likely to commit acts of indecency with kids, than a heterosexual?

The hysterical picture you and Ripsnort are painting shows a gay teacher showing his pupils the different positions they use during gay sex! Or showing them the different clubs around town that are frequented by gays! Ridiculous! What is wrong with an 11 y/o being told that some people have different lifestyles?

For instance, if you're are so against your kids being taught about the different 'life-styles' out there, I assume you have a similar dislike for how kids are taught about different religions? Afterall, following other religions is 'banned' by the Bible - it acknowleges their existence, but forbids them as 'Wrong'.

As an 11 y/o, I'd known about the facts of life for about 4 years before my school went through it. I knew what homosexuality was (in a vague sense anyway). Yet MIRACULOUSLY I didn't become gay - I was somehow able to put things in perspective. Why can't you trust kids to do the same? My parents went through it all with me while it was being discussed at school, and all the way through my teens we had 'personal development' sessions discussing everything from sex, abortion and euthanasia to war, death and religion.

So now Mother's Day represents traditional family values?  The person most responsible for seeing Mother's Day enacted as an official holiday actually wanted to eliminate it by the end of her life.

Rip - we should have noticed soon enough that not only gay people get and spread AIDS - that myth should have been gone for good...  

Good sexual education helps to prevent teenage pregnancies as well as the spread of sexual transmitted deseases.

And how are homosexual people threatening your kids more than heterosexual people? They don't hump each other at the kindergarden or stuff like that - they do live normal lifes like everybody else. I got a son myself and I will try to raise him open-minded without prejudice. History told us too many times what happens when one group of people represses another. Intolerance towards a certain "race", a certain believe or religion, a certain colour, a certain preference of sexuality has led to the cruelest atrocities one can imagine - haven't we still not learned from that?

For the traditional values: so you want all the women to stick behind the oven just because they have different reproductional organs? That's not the way I gonna do it. My GF and me share job/education and caring after our son. That means we both have to take concession to our career. But everyone who wants children has to do decide that.

Todd, Traditional family values apply to everything.

That woman was just mad because she started the holiday and didn't expect it to go the route it went.In her eye's it wasn't clean and pure any more,it was just another day for people to make money.

In my family, Mother's Day is very special day. I have to agree with Rip on this. I think that was wrong for that school to do that. I live in NY also and I wasn't the only one outraged by that.

The point of that was to show that the creator herself no longer saw the holiday as representing the very family values that drove its creation in the first place.  I think she herself would have argued that the elimination of Mother's Day shouldn't be seen as afront to family values, but rather it should be seen as their salvation.

Besides, in my book... every day is Mother's Day.

Homosexuality was, in the US, considered a mental disease until 1973.

Then there was some research done. Having the opinion that it's a mental disease is like claiming that people who like say getting a blow job are mentally sick.

Regarding sexual education; seems to be working here. The US has a huge teenage mother problem and I don't see it going away by not teaching kids about it. It could be said that it's the responsibility of parents, but it's the society around that pays the price and such elementary knowledge should be taught in school, IMHO.

It's just biology 101 - that's all it is. not some unknown big unnerving scary entity - just simple biology.

Hey Dowding first off whether you believe it or not the guy DID molest the kids and I for one don't think he should still be alive.

Second Read the last line of my post again. I never said ALL gays were going to molest kids.

Third I use mental illness to describe them because that is what one of their own said. In the article from Fox's Hannity & Colmes who interviewed one of the Activist in SF that was fighting for the City to pay for sex changes. I would link to it but it is gone now.

On your comment about religion, well I don't think it should be taught in school unless they can cover all of them.

As far as statistics go. Go find your own damn statistics. I never said anything that would require statistics.

I agree also.  Unfortunately children mature sexually years before they mature socially.  A conundrum, but one that we shouldn't just ignore.  In the same way that we should teach kids about brushing even before they get their adult teeth in, we should be teaching them about what will be happening to their bodies sexually and what it means.  

Trust me, you don't want your daughter learning about sex in the back seat of a car or behind the bleachers at recess.  (horny teenage guy): "Trust me, I'll pull out in time.  Just take a shower afterward, you won't get pregnant".  This later turns into (pregnant daughter) "Ummm, Dad...I think I have a problem..."
