Heres my first impression after flying it for 10 hours over the week-end.
-Even with Wells FM added, they still seem mushy.
-FR sucks even on medium with PIII-550,128megs ram, 32 meg TNT2.
-Clouds suck, HT has got clouds down to an art, MS does not.
-FR REALLY takes a hit with cockpit on, there's an optional 'low res' cockpit, but its much too dark to be of any use.

On a scale from 1-10, I'd give it a 6 overall.

Anyone have any "add-on" cockpits to help increase FR?

Good stuff
- external views of a/c look good
- looks like gun camera footage when you shoot at and hit an enemy a/c
- terrain looks nice

Bad stuff
- have to turn graphic details way down to get smooth motion, while I can get fast frame rates with higher graphic settings it gets very "jerky" (PIII 866, Geforce 2)
- 2D cockpit takes a 40-50 fps hit!
- 3D cockpit sucks as gauges aren't clear and views aren't adjustable
- FM is very mushy with little or no rudder response

CFS2 will probably make the arcade sim pilots happy but lets face it folks, Aces High has spoiled us.

I give this a 5 out of 10.

FM stinks - even with Wells patch

Can't tell speed as there isn't a wind noise as there is in AH

Slight hesitation when bullets hit or enemy plane takes damage (split second freeze)

Online thru the zone, not much competition. Kind of kill the man with the ball once you start shooting some down, you become a marked man.

Nice eye candy, but FM doesn't compare to AH nor does the overall camaraderie (online wise).

Limited planes, no FW

views (in cockpit) limited

not much change from CFS 1 except for eyecandy/ cpu requirements...

More stuff as I think of it...
-Sound sucks, as mentioned above, no wind, no stall horn, etc etc.
-No auto pilot, no auto climb, etc.

It sucks.

I was waiting for the "Janes WW2 fighters" types grapics which they don't have. Janes looks as if watching a movie at times it's so good.

Have you seen the new Il-2 screenshots? They are magnificent. It makes me wonder if I will ever see a Pacific war fighter simm that is as good as European Air war or Janes.

So far AH is the best of the Pacific plane set flight simms.

I kinda like it.

The 38 FM sucks.

It's a nice diversion if you need to get away for a couple of minutes.

Speaking of P38's, I noticed that the P38F in CFS2 has torque to the left, I thought those props countered out the torq? (one spins left, one spins right?)

You shouldn't have torque on multi-engines anyway?

Good stuff

- You can hear engine sounds of other planes if they are very close to you.
- Your plane can be damaged by the close explosion of enemy plane.
- You can see bullet holes in your wings
- You should open your canopy before bailing out
- There are some interesting things in behaviour of damaged planes.

Bad stuff

- All the other things

Good stuff: (fer me)

I haven't bought it yet (and with the reports I read here, prolly never will   )

Bad stuff: (again, for me  )

Seems beautiful...but eyecandy doesnt make a sim better in playability (well not that much   )

Hehehe

That sums it up for me Ram, wish I had bought the 'fantasy' game 'Crimson Tide'...Warbirds, Aces High has spoiled me for FM's, etc.

Not true unless they are counter rotating. If both props rotate in the same direction they both contribute torque forces in the same direction. If turing opposite directions the torque is canceled out.

I bought "Crimson Tide". It's kinda cool, a good diversion from regular flight sims. Nice graphics. A better choice than CFS2, IMHO, because AH has CFS2 beat hands-down.

Got to advanced weather and set up thunderstorm with all the extras . If you have not tried this your missing out on some thing nice . Remember you can set up more than one cloud layer type and wind effect etc .

You mean Crimson Skies?
It's ok.  Really arcadish with the kites to choose from, but an interesting storyline
Got some real nice graphics in it too.  Once fight at a railroad bridge is outstanding, holes in the rock you can fly through, loops over the bridge trying to get the bad guy chasing you slam into it

It's a nice break.  Some BFM applies, but it's deffinately an arcade/fantasy game.
