Bring back in-game film viewer
« on: June 24, 2006, 11:51:39 AM »
I'd really like to see the "in-game" Film Viewer brought back - as an addition to the stand-alone viewer, not a replacement.  We used to have both (I can't remember when the in-game viewer went away).

The biggest reason I'd like it back is because you could bring up the map.  You could see what map you were on and what fields you were fighting around, and radar and relevant tactical info.

Another reason is just the "eye candy" aspect.  I used to like watching films in all their full-screen glory.  And I could make full sized, 1280x1024 (the resolution I use in-game) screen shots of the recorded action - so I'd have cool wallpaper for my work comp.  :D

By the way, is it possible to make such hi-res screen shots using the stand-alone viewer?

They had to stop people from useing the film viewer in game because some were exploiting it as a way to find GV's when in a gv battle.
Simply record stop your tank look at film to find out where NME tank is, drive up and BLAM.

At least thats what I read when they disabled it.

Ah, yes Flayed, I do seem to recall something like that.

They'd still have to tower out of the GV and leave the arena to go to the film viewer.  But it is faster, I suppose, than having to close AH completely, open the stand-alone, view film, re-open AH and come back to the MA.

So how about this: in the stand-alone, have the ability to make the viewer portion go full-screen.  For instance, double-clicking on the viewer or hitting some function key makes the film fill the entire screen.  All of the sliders, editing controls, player info, etc., disappear.  Then double-clicking or hitting said function key brings it all back.

I'd still like to have the map recorded and viewable...might be too much to ask.

I miss seeing the map, I wish you could see the clipboard screens, the map, everything. I wish you could get perfect full screen -- the way it shows up in game -- with keyboard shortcuts for pause, slow, fast, play, and stop, and most of all.....

I wish when you paused it, or slowed it down to zero speed, that debris would pause/stop in mid air as well, that fireballs would stop and freeze in place. Right now you can move the speed slider to zero and the parts still fall down, and explosions still can disappear. It makes it hard to get perfect screenshots.
