Stick mapping
« on: June 30, 2006, 06:45:16 AM »
I posted a thread about  losing all mapping in the bug report.   Got several replies but not one from High Tech as to why this is happening.  Again last night MFreak had the same thing happen to him.  After playing the game for over an hour he goes to up and nothing works.  Something has changed to cause this.  As I stated in the bug thread my controls worked fine after all the updates.  I had been playing for 4+ hrs when text message appears control mode 2 selected appears.  After checking the stick mapping all inputs had  been eliminated.  Since remapping I unchecked the automatic select box but still have to check the mapping area before start of play.  One of the replies in the bug thread said something about a hot key.  No clue what it is.  Would like some answers.   Blt280    I also read the update about the control modes changing but I never did nor do I now have a mode 2 mapped.

Just a guess.. Maybe you hit the key that switches to mode 2 by mistake?

Bring up your clipboard, and find out what key switches to mode 2 and leave it blank so it doesn't happen again. I think it's under "global".

I just read your other post.... Does it happen in flight too, or only when your in a gv?

Had been in planes, guns vehicles for hours.  Went to get into GV after a flight and basically nothing.  Same for 2 other squadies now.  As far as switching modes I have never used 2 modes since AH I.  Am hoping Skuzzy or Pryo reads this and can give some answers

The game would not arbitrarily switch to Mode 2.  There are two reasons why a switch might happen.

1)  You have the "Auto select mode at start of flight" option checked in the "Map Controllers" section, the game will switch to "Mode 2" when you enter a GV, then switch to "Mode 1" when you enter a plane.  If you do not want this to happen, then uncheck the above option.
If nothing has been mapped in "Mode 2" of the "Map Controllers" panel, then all of a sudden, nothing will work.

2)  You have mapped the "Switch to Mode 2" command to either a button on the stick or on the keyboard and accidently pressed it.

Loss of mappings could be caused by an anti-virus program.  There is also a spyware/malware program on the loose on the Internet which can cause files to be set in a way they cannot be written by the game.  Once this happens, none of the configuration information will be retained.

Easy to spot this one, as all the files and folders in the HTC installation directory will be marked read-only and they cannot be changed by you.  Removing the game and re-installing it will fix the problem temporarily, but it will reoccur until you find the spyware/malware program and purge it from your computer.

I want to set mode 3 for bombers only. But when I make my settings in mode three they carry over to mode One and vice versa. Why will mode 3 not stay as set? Vista running as administrator,
