England v Portugal - starting in 10 mins
« on: July 01, 2006, 09:52:00 AM »
No idea how this will turn out. A penalty shoot out would not surprise me. I've just come in and there's hardly any traffic on the road - everyone looks set to view the big one from KO @ 1600 UK (and Portugal!) time, 1700 Germany/Central Europe.

I think I'll make a large mug of tea, and settle down. Not really the weather for football though. A clear blue sky and 31°...

Does Portugal have a full roster for this game?  Seems to me they suffered several red cards in the last Port win.  Red cards last game count in this one too... no?

Half time 0-0.

The cards were reset after the group stage, but a couple of players got yellows this game, and will miss the next match. I don't know if red cards count in later matches.

I really am hoping that Portugal puts England out of their misery today.

lol

Well sorry Swoop, but I am sick of watching the English play.  They were probably the best team on paper but they just play the most boring dreary football out of every team in the finals.

WTG Portugal.

Aye they do.  4-5-1 football is always boring as hell, no idea why Sven hasnt been playing Rooney and Owen up front in a 4-4-2.  And why on earth anyone would want Crouch on the pitch is beyond me.

As for today.......bloody Argies.  Rooney got sent off for getting fouled himself by 2 Portugese players and cos Rooney is such a strong player it was the Portugese who came off worse......it wasnt Rooney's fault that that Portugese players testicles got in the way of his foot when he fell over.

Ahem.

Good game for both teams.

Now, I supposed beetle will get drunk to mourn the loss.  Of course, if England had won, beetle would have gotten drunk to celebrate the win.  That darn beetle can always find a reason to get drunk.  :rofl

Damit! That was the team I supported. Now if Brazil doesn't win this evening I will have to buy a hat and eat it...
