Well I probobly shouldn't be posting, I only got 2 hrs sleep last night

Karnak, you called it man <S> I realy thought Bush would have taken it by at least 10% if not more. Who ever wins this thing has quite a job ahead of them. Our congress is pretty well split, at least the senate. The Republicans still have the majority but not by much. Personaly I think Bush is the man to work with a divided congress, he's done it here in Tx already.
Ahhh the electorial college, what do we do about it? I realy don't know myself. It's part of the constitution and I don't like changing the constitution at all, but it looks like the winner may lose the popular vote and win the electorial vote. I hope and pray it's Bush. Regardless, 1/2 of me thinks we need to change it the other 1/2 doesn't want to amend the constitution. This election was wierd. I saw ZERO adds here in Tx, a first in any election. I know people in other "Bush" states that saw none either, and I'm sure there were "Gore" states that saw no adds either. Both candidates just ran adds in key electorial states like Florida. That's the effect of the electorial college that I don't like, that and the fact that 2 or 3 states could decide the election either way. It just doesn't seem "democratic", but of course we are a representative republic not a democracy.
Now about a mandate, I think its pretty clear that there is NO mandate for either candidate. If Bush wins I think he will have more of a "mandate" than Gore would if he won. Simply because the American people would have elected a Republican president AND left the congress in the hands of the Republicans. It's been about 50 yrs since that happened. The democrats in the Senate could always fillabuster any legislation that comes there way, but I've seen enough dems cross party lines in the last 8 years to think that they all would use that tactic. The House, I think, is where the Republicans did the best. I believe they picked up a couple of seats, so hopefuly they now have 15 or so more members in the House than the Democrats do. I believe Bush would have a MUCH easier time governing and getting legislation through congress than Gore would. Either way I'm satisfied that our system works. BUT we realy need to get the other 150 million people in this country to vote. It's just not right that less than 25% of the people decide who's elected to public office. Who know's though, maybe it's best that way.
I'm left with 2 strong feelings after last night. One, the media is a joke. Now I already thought this, but last night confirmed it for me. The seconds is.........
Checks and ballances, checks and ballances. Our founding fathers were very freaking smart, they knew exactly what they were doing 225 years ago.
S! to all
and I hope Bush wins Florida
