A way to make pilot rescue fun and useful
« on: July 07, 2006, 01:13:57 AM »
Suppose we had some small aircraft that could land anywhere; storches, ducks, etc. Suppose pilots on a big kills streak get shot down, yet still want to land those kills. Suppose someone wants to rescue them, and get a percent of those points...

Get my drift? tonight I was shot down by a lucky shot from a flak, while I was coming back home to land 9 kills. Someone could have landed nearby in a storch or any other small aircraft, picked me up, and brought me back to a base, and gotten a big percent of those fighter points.

Just a thought, it seems like a fun feature to add.

could you then be rescued if you crashed on your own field but on the grass where you would get a ditch. would onle be a 10 ft flight. but how about using a jeep for this?

Well, I dunno if many people would really use it for the reasons you outlined in the MA, but I think rescue aircraft would certainly add a neat dimension to scenarios...  Maybe model a rubber one-man dingy for the bailed pilot too :D

I think it would add some fun .. I would go rescue my squaddies for sure.

so you wont get full credit for being rescued from a disabled vehicle/ac but it would be more than you would get for a ditch bail or capture

and the guy who rescues you should get more for an enemy territory rescue than a friendly territory rescue

tying rescuers points totaly to downed pilot score could lead to "I came all this way and you only shot down 1 freakin plane" cya!

And the guy that kills the Storch should get a bonus for killing two pilots in one aircraft. :aok

Then the BK would make a squad mission just to bail out over the water to have a gay orgy :rofl

I kind of like the idea. I hope a way can be found to make it work.

The way I envision it you'd get a point (plus a percent of the rescuee's sortie points) if its in friendly territory, and two points in enemy territory (plus the percent.)

I also think the rescue planes, being small and flying low, should be harder to spot by the enemy. And they'd barely give you any points for shooting them down (I'd still shoot them though :) )

In scenarios rescued pilots could be put back in circulation if there are planes left to fly.
