No Check 6 bull--
« on: July 19, 2006, 12:04:46 AM »
If you cant check your bellybutton dont blame it on me. I have had it with people getting upset over no check 6 calls. Check 6 for me is nice but i dont really need it. Had someone on range vox go ape today, not the first time he has done this. I dont really get picked some times but not really. If i do get picked it because i have five guys on me. I think ACM and having a clue has something to do with it. I would tell you the story but every guy in the bbs knows it. One con west i am working two cons just out of dot range. Kill one guy  then he starts up with the no check 6. I kill the other guy with him in the back ground vox Bla Bla.

I never get mad but this game play is not for me. Most guys are cool but it only takes a couple to screw up a party. I understand if i am 600 off a con and he climbs up to someone then i blast him. Most of the time i think its because they dont get any at home so they take it out on this game (:

Totally agree with you FX1,  Check 6's  are a luxury in this game and are open to be misused also.

If you can't check your own backside than thats your own fault no-one elses.

It takes me a couple of seconds to find the buttons and when your in a dogfight sometimes it selects the wrong player and is too slow.   I had a little discussion with wilbuz about the morals of having ch6 in game and he made the point it is there for people without mic's  which is fair enough.  Otherwise I would suggest removing it completely.

I've had friendlies give me a ch6 when im about to kill someone and then to go on and take my kill.

Maybe they're not so friendly after all.

Seriously, new folks don't have the SA the vets have. They get their lives saved a time or two from a check 6 call and think that's one of the best thing the game has. The next thing you know they think they should be giving them all the time since it sure seemed helpful to them. Then they expect you to return the favor cause we're all on the same team, right?

Which raises two important questions. Have you NEVER been givin a check 6 that saved your life and said, "Whew! Thanks!". Have you ever given someone a check 6 that saved their skins?

It does take time for everyone to develop SA. And as long as new folks show up and fly they WILL give a check 6 to you when you're D5000 and they can't even see who's behind you. They do learn just like you did.

Give em a chance and help them to understand is all....:)

well said ren. SA takes a long time to get right, so it's usually the new guys that whine about it :) next time you have a chance, pop by the TA and spread the knowledge ;)

i dont mind a check6 that much and i give them out becuase i dont want all my friendlies dieing then im the only 1 left. sometimes i lik giving ch6s becuase they really help out the other guy plus when u say it over vox it makes me more alert of where that con it.  so in some cases i like to give out ch6s.

As a noob I appreciate a check six or, as happened Sunday, a vet telling me to bail out but I don't EXPECT it.  If I go up it's up to me to come back alive.  Any help is great but, speaking for myself only, not expected.

Haha - yea - u dont get picked alot at 10K+ in a Spit 16.  Usually you get to be the picker then.

Check 6's should be offered if you see it and arent in the heat of the battle at the moment, IMHO.  Even if YOU and your uber ride dont need it, that doesnt mean the newer guys or 'team' focused guys dont want/need it.

Unless your flying as a team with a specific wingman/men/people

Consider any check6 you get as a gift and say "thank you." reguardless of if you needed it or not
And blame only yourself if you die and didnt get one.

Your designated wingman is the only one that "owes" you a check6

for everyone else its simply a non mandatory courtesy.

Im thankful when I get em, even if I dont need them.
And blame myself for poor SA when I dont

Most of the check6's I receive warn me about the plane that I've either already been tussling with for a few minutes, or which is on my 12.

Many of the other check6's are for a plane I have been tracking behind me for 2-3k or so, along with the good guys 3-4k away, right up until I'm already making my break at which point I get the check 6.

A few check6's I really do need.
