Me 262 alt record?
« on: July 22, 2006, 12:22:41 PM »
I loaded up AH II today and was trying for max altitude in a 262.

I changed the fuel multiplier to 2.0

I noticed that fuel consumption went way down at around 47 or 48k.  It dropped to just under 1000 gph.

After I passed through 68k, the aircraft graphics disappeared, but came back as I once again passed through this altitude on the way to a landing.

Alt achieved:  78.1k

I don't have a place to put the film or I would link it.

What is the max altitude that anyone has achieved (AH II)?

125k before I got tired.

After the plane disappears nothing happens, you keep going up forever.

So here's something that needs to be fixed in AH's Flight Modelling.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

the highest i got was in a 152 run over the bish HQ about 2 years ago. i got to about 70k, then i leveled off and watched the 163s run out of fuel and fall from the sky.

Plane seem to disapear around 40k, but keep on climbing; up there at 80k is AH heaven and 72 virgins waits you there and lifetime account with the RV8 enabled...

Um, whats the point of that kind of altitude? No aircraft doesnt compress in a dive like, and no one else is up there to fight with you...

that's the point. if you are up that high, you have a HUGE altitude advantage and can linger over the target and attack at your leisure.

Over 40k breaks the FM, and you risk disco-ing.

Can't be fixed without introducing other issues.

That was straight from the horses mouth.

You can do the same at 20k. Thats my cruising altitude for long distance, and i dont ever see anyone else up there! (But manned ack seems 20x more accurate and powerful at that altitude. Its shot me down in one hit up there!)
