Why you have to be a subscriber to download a demo is beyond me

I dont see anything lighting up for non-subscribers.

Nice.

Until you start using add-ons for FS2004 it's kinda boring.

I use -
Improved terrains, mesh and scenery.
Ultimate Traffic - airline timetables.
All the AIAardvark aircraft.
EvolveAI - Airbus and DC10
Some ProjectAI stuff
Of course FSPainters stuff not covered by others.

There are even proper AI variants for a lot of fighter aircraft now -
Henry Tomkiewiczs - Tornado, F-16 etc
Daisuke - F-18E/F/G
Others - A10

Transport etc -
Henry Tomkiewicz - C135
ProjectAI - C17
Daisuke - Greyhound, Viking

You haven't played FS2004 unitl your stuck in a queue behind a crap load of other aircraft to take-off or land.

Unfortuneately AIArdvark stopped doing aircraft earlier this year, but they were the ULTIMATE in models.
Luckily EvolveAI have taken up the torch.

Pfft.. AI's...  theres no way to experience FS2004 until you've learned to fly a plane as real as possible in a sim and then flown in the VATSIM multiplayer network for at least couple of hundred hours.

First impressions:

-The head bob is a nice touch.
-Only a 3D interior view, not sure how I feel about that.
-May just be my video card/driver but I have to exit the game anytime I go into a menu or the graphics are screwed up
-The water is nicely done, trees not so much
-Steering on the ground not as squirrely before

I've owned every version since the commodore version published by sublogic. I'll pick it up, just a question of when.

Provided there is an October.

A few thoughts.

System requirements:

I've got a fairly buff system - 2 GIG RAM, AMD X2 4400, and 2 Nvidia 7900 GTX's.
I couldn't break past 12 frames per second and that was with the FPS slider put up to 90. This thing choked my box like nothing I have seen - holy bloat - fix that ****.

Dynamic scenery:

All nice and good, but if you turn yr sliders up to see motorboats and hang gliders, kiss yr frame rate good bye.

Terrain resolutions:

The good part, is it looks like MS got the point that the 3 meter texture res wasn't gonna cut it with the new high res sceneries comming through the pipe in 2004. So they upped the resolution to as high as 7cm per pixle. Not a bad thought, but 2 years late in the timing.

Sounds like there is a video driver issue going on there. I have dual core 3.2, 2GB, atix800 pro and I'm getting much better frame rates at 1280x1024 with everything except aa cranked up. Are you going into the menu after the flight starts?
