Addon Aircraft (best at top)-

Boeings, MD80s, EMB-120/170/175, DC9's, Tu204/214 - http://www.ai-aardvark.com  (some of the links are old, to get them search http://www.avsim.com manually)

Airbus, ERJ's, DC10s - http://www.evolveai.com

Any others not covered by above - http://www.projectai.com (use V2 aircraft)

AI flightplans -

http://www.projectai.com

Anything not covered by above -

http://www.avsim.com
http://www.flightsim.com

If you want a single prog that adds a lot of aircraft and airlines ($30)
http://www.flight1.com/esd-products.asp?product=utraffic
Then start replacing their aircraft models with the aardvark and evolve ones.

Have fun.

Once you get 'bored' with civvy stuff you can add military aircraft -

Portland ANG F-15s with the KC tankers in the background.

The stuff that bugs me about the Flight sims is that everything is always perfect. IRL, u'll be dam lucky if both throttle/prop control run at the exact power/speed for the same setting.
The other stuff is the lack of aptitude to model the systems in details.

I've always wondered.

You guys that fly the MS flight sim...

Isn't it boring as hell coming from AH2 or IL-2?

I mean what's there to do beside fly around and look at scenery?

It's relaxing - no need to watch your 6 :D

Anyway, with a good plane addon there are other challenges. In VATSIM network it's quite fun to fly under live ATC and other traffic. Radio can be full of chatter. Although it requires fairly lots of reading and some offline flying to become familiar with the onboard equipment - it's not simple to learn how to fly certain procedures and what not to do in a controlled airspace and how and when to do something.

Although I find air traffic controlling far more appealing. That is an ultimate challenge with tens of planes
I wish it'd be my real life job. Maybe in the future, who knows.

If you are really interested into the real flying, then FSX is something
for you, otherwise stay in IL-2 or AH ;)

I like the challenges, especialy in bad weather at night or so with
random engine failures!
I also like to fly the Helis around skyscrapers and land/start on them!

I enjoy pattern work, especially in a nice plane.. like an accurate Mustang, Jug, or B-17.

I also enjoy 'scouting' around an area that I know ..to see how accurate they got it.

I get a kick out of aerobatics ..trying to duplicate routines I have seen.

Then there's takin the SDK, an building a plane I would like to fly, and trying to make it as accurate as possible. (did a Ryan ST-A awhile ago, was a very nice flyer, made the 'stock' version and the supercharged Menasco version ..Clark Gable flew one).

I havent flown around the world in awhile ..last time I did that was usin the Beech Baron 58 .. was a challenge picking routes and packin as much gas as I could into the bird.

Had some memorable flights just goin from Denver to Phoenix ..them mountains go up purty high near Denver, and the Beech couldn't top em.
(was kinda funny . the 'stock' Ryan did just fine up to 15k or so)

I have a B-58 Hustler that is just a balls out hot rod to fly .. and the SR-71 ..crazy at 50k .. if you start to wobble yer gone!

..and try out the B-36 sometime .. MAN .. it takes ALL of LAX to get off the ground and even then you best aim out to sea, not over houses.. cause she's a bear to get that first coupla hundred feet of alt, but she flies very well once she gets up to speed an cleaned up.

Ya .. I enjoy flyin alla add-ons .. and I tweak the ones that are just dead wrong till they work like they should. Some you run into are junk .. but there are a lot of great ones out there.
