For all you sad FS2004 pilots...
« on: August 14, 2006, 12:01:08 PM »
For all of those grieved that "zone.com" has shut down the free multiplayer section of FS2004. Here is something I think you might appreciate. Another free community that just got started (And today started it's first break-down) and is (I think) better than zone.com.

Here is the link:
http://www.ultimateflight.net

They use "TeamSpeak" as the basic communication tool to talk to ATC's from over 10 different aiports in all 3 regions (Eastern, Central, Western). Although I might be mistaken on some of it. I'm sure the website has better information on it all then I can give you. One quick note, it's broken down for now, but will be back up and running soon i'm sure.

Here is some information you could use:

TeamSpeak Server Address:
uf.hopto.org

No login name required (nickname required though)
No password required (Unless registered)

Once you login, don't constantly switch from channel to channel. It will put a time-ban on you for 5:00 minutes.

(NOTE: The above is currently "offline" due to the server problems mentioned on the main website. And as I said before, it should be back online in a short period of time.)

You can get TeamSpeak here:
http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=news

Don't forget, TeamSpeak is 100% free!

Happy flying.

Could the solution be either VATSIM or IVAO?

I flew FS20** online once, wasnt impressed. They all started *****ing cause I was buzzing their planes on the runway and flying formation with them really close in my An-24. Buncha stuck up nancyboys. If my plane had guns I woulda killed the lot of them, and their little The Sims passengers too.

Apparently nobody appreciates a good formation these days.

Do an inverted pass through the hangars in a 747-400, and suddenly people are complaining.

The sad thing is, that the idiot kids are actually serious when they are saying it. Claims that you are a terrorist and "plotting to crash a plane"

Seriously Meatwad?  Wow.  I taxied an King Air at 75 MPH across a runway trying to get into formation with some guys on a runway one time.  Most people I played online with (when I first got the game 2 years ago)  LIKED formation flying, and air races.

Back when I played MSFS, there was one pilot that was really nice and we actually just flew around in formation and chatted. The rest were all little wannabe ATC/skycaptain kids that threatened to boot you if you were on the runway for over 5 seconds or didnt fly a place that they wanted you to.

Overall its a neat game, even found my local small town airport and flew from it

Yeah, I enjoy touring places.  I did a 20 minute tour of Washington DC last week, it's not quite as good as in real life, but hey, one can dream.  I thought it was weird though, that they didn't have Mt. Vernon.  It's really a neat game, i'll have to safe up for MSFSX and a new computer, I doubt this one will take much more graphics abuse.

Yes, you will need a new machine for MS Flight Simulator X. The graphics upgrade include: Updated bridges design (Very Highly Detailed), Villages (Also High Detail), New tiles (Varying from desert, to forest, to swamp-lands), Improved scenery (Trees, Sky-scrapers, Tiles, City Layouts, etc.), And lots lots more.

You will definatly need a good graphics card, a high-speed CPU, and a TON of RAM!

At the demo islands I didn't have any significant FPS drops with my slightly outdated system. In fact I think it looked nicer with the same FPS as with FS9 (the graphics engine is totally crooked in FS9). Most noticeably the clouds weren't a big hit on the performance!

but.. got to see about it when the whole game is released and I get to stuff it up with plane addons. Default planes doesn't have any meaningful functionality in the gauges, while the addon planes can eat up CPU time with all the features (..and varying coding skills).

Yeah, the best thing of all is the fact that it will finally have a decent Multiplayer Setup. Instead of the "IP Search" reference in previous versions.

It looks nice .. a next step up in graphics for the terrains.
Oh.. look .. distance haze! (one of the *many* things the art director of Kesmai had no clue about)

Kinda funny .. AH does better vehicles on the ground. (saw some wheels and shadows .. and some upper bodies seperate from them ..runnin around . . looked very wacked)

Can't wait to jam in the add-on's I have already ..some sweet planes.
