Myself and maybe 30 others flew in there all the time enduro.  I spoke with HiTech at the convention about an arena with jets like Korea.   Right now, their focus is on getting Combat tour out to the public.  They also felt that the draw for such an arena ( Korea, Vietnam ) was not as great than the current arenas.  I'm just passing on what was said to me.  Actually, I really miss all the fighting of Sabers and Migs.

I played Wings Over Vietnam on-line most of last summer.  Maybe x0847Marine can tell you too. It's hard to get a kill with an Vietnam era AIM9, or  AIM7. especially in full realism mode. The biggest complaint I had was the servers. Getting dumped leaft and right , or having your squadmates or enemies dumped constantly sucked.

If Hitech did a Vietnam era flightsim............... I'd hit It!:aok

I suspect modern aviation technology is a little bit beyond what dale and crew would want to manage and I doubt they would want to anyway considering how difficult a time they have had with combat tour...

Anyhow....Ive always believed they (HTC) could (without breaking the bank) make a couple of WW1 biplanes, a sopwith and a Dr1, and have an arena just for that and then have an F86 vs mig15 thing with an arena for just that.....they could pretty much do that with their current technology and crew and in so doing capture pretty much the entire MMOG flight sim crowd but again...based on the incredibly slow pace of the AH2 game development and Combat tour....I doubt we will see much progress on the current game let alone any new additions beyond ww2.

Yeah, F86 was my most favorite AW plane.

But....why should HTC re-create what Kesmai had already given us years ago?!?

I honestly believe that, if a multi-player jet combat sim were done properly (like AH2 has done for the WWII crowd), people would join.  Or, better yet, those who feign disinterest today would probably try it out and discover that they actually do like it.  They'd end up flying in AH2 some nights.  Then, they'd be flying the jet combat sim on other nights.  Part of their regular "play time" smorgasbord.

1ijac,
Thanks for your input re: your discussion.  Dale just doesn't know, yet, how much he wants to build a jet combat sim, though.  ;)
If he builds it, they will come.[/b]  :D

That was the promise of the missile age, but it never delivered, certainly not in the 1956-1991 period anyways.

Problem is, nobody would want to fly for Vietnam.  It would just be F-4's buzzing around looking for that one guy in the MiG.  Notice how not one supportive post here is by a guy who'd fly for North Korea or Vietnam.  They all imagine being in the F-86 or F-4, but who they imagine they would fly against is beyond me.

Alternatively, it would just be F-4s fighting other F-4s if done like the AH MA.

I think either would be boring as hell.

Goldy  you still are incorrect  you never killed me on that run.

You sat right opposite the ridge trying to creep over it but not being successful in getting a shot on me  Wareagle flanked me and got a shot in before i could swing my turret around.

Plus you must have died about  8 times before killing the others  :)

Woh!  Hold up a sec.  AH2 has German a/c, Japanese a/c, Italian a/c and American a/c, yet NONE of us fly for any of those countries.  lol.  AH-Vietnam would have the aircraft of the era, but no one would fly for one Nation or the other (except maybe in scenarios).

And, the fact that one a/c is less desirable than the rest doesn't seem to keep us from flying the P-40 from time-to-time, does it?  :D

I'll usually bow to your WWII aircraft wisdom Karnak. However I can't agree with you on this one. Just based on my multiplayer experiance in Wings Over Vietnam. There were plenty of guys who flew the Mig-17, and Mig-21. They kicked prettythang.  Also don't forget there are US birds besides F4's. The F8, and F105.:)

Not one post here is oohing and ahing over anything other than the F-86 for Korea or the F-4 for Vietnam.  Not even any other American birds, let alone Russian birds.

The North Korean and Vietnamese air forces do not have any of the mystique that the Luftwaffe, or even the Imperial Japanese air forces, have.

The speeds also aren't very condusive to a MMOG as view distances are kinda short.

you just have to look at the name "Aces High"

how many aces (5 kills or more) were there in korea, vietnam, since?
how many aces did the countries that fought in ww2 have total?
there is your answer ..

not to mention a2a in jets is about as exciting as watching grass grow
