Why not make it so that you can move to the HQ, have a HQ text channel and map that you can plot on...

so all of the win the war bark order general types will have somewhere to go, hide, and avoid getting shot down - they can also issue their orders from a position of authority? maybe they can set a highlight on a base they want to be attacked next, or different colours to prioritise targets?

will also be an added incentive to kill hq's.

you could even make it so that only people with <100 rank or so can get in there - to keep the scorepotatos happy.
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

I think that most folks (most not all) with <100 rank *are* the scorepotatos! :D

But there would be too many problems with folks just going there to argue with each other. All the "generals" would flock there in droves. Then there's the problem of having folks actually care what was decided in said war room, if/once a decision had been made.

In general I like it, but with this crowd I don't see it working.

I like this idea kinda of like the commander on BF2,

Like nme CV spotted and it will highlight on map or Bombers alt sighted and then highlighted etc

Maybe for CT.

But I would say restrict access to the top 3 ranks on each side.

Or make it simple, rank 100 and over is allowed to enter into this room that furball described. But there's a limit down to allow only 3 people to enter. That way decisions are made, and there is less arguing. If it still doesen't sound good, then I will agree with Bruv119.

Then again I've known some folks that really had an eye for tactics and war planning, but were only semi-talented pilots (and thus had terrible ranks). I've also noticed that certain <10 ranked folks aren't necessarily the best tacticians, just the best game rule manipulators (that is, they know what to do to get higher rank, and do it, doesn't mean they know how to plan)

Agree 100%

How about this...

Anyone can get in. Allow a max of 10 players in a time. But if a person has a higher rank then a person in the room they can take their position. Just like a cv.

I think this is spot on.

Also someone else said it pretty well in another thread (and I paraphrase)...

There's a place for that, it's called IRC.

Well BlueJ. I'm sure thats a good solution, but that would make it easier to kick the ranked "10" tacticians out of the room because a ranked "100" pilot just decided to drop in.

Put a time limit on how long you can be in the "war room". Like a term limit, you can only play all powerfull ruler for so long. Provide a chalkboard to wirte notes on (this would be abused). So players in the "war room" could pass on notes and plans to the replacements.

i love the idea, but leave out all the rank crap.

just have a command room in the HQ that can be accessed by all, with options like markers for raids, with numbers of planes involved, or posting an order for troops at field X. make markers show up on the game map for all team members, so that they know what's going on, where a CV is, etc.

i think it's a great idea!

Just to play devil's advocate, most of what we want in this room can be found in a mission plan.

I mean recently. I think it was one of superdud's posts about not leaving the tower, I said "HTC already created that, only they packaged it separately and named it mIRC"

Congrats, Furball, on the successful troll.  You actually have 4-5 guys debating this like it is a serious and somewhat good idea.:aok
