Saxman, good luck! My first ever PE kit was small details (rudder pedals, instruments, bomb fins) for a Petlyakov-2. Just recently I got my first ever resin detail kit (for the B17G) and it's small -- 3 pieces -- but going to take a bit of work. For PE I suggest you Get some fine-tip needle nose pliers.
The kind without "teeth" -- you want flat grip surfaces. 2 pairs help, but not necessary. Flat surfaces to work on also help. When cutting pieces off the sprue of copper, put one hand over the top of it, as they have a tendency to shoot off like a bullet in a fireplace. The hand cups over the X-acto knife, and if the piece goes flying it hits the hand and bounces back down. (I learned this the hard way)
