CH gameport pedals in XP
« on: September 13, 2006, 09:54:42 PM »
Is this possible? I can add something and select the gameport (I have 2) but I don't know what to select -- it doesn't have a pedals option or a "CH Pedals" option, CH Pro Pedals doesn't work at all, when used. If I serial-connect the joystick into the rudder gameport, windows will recognize the joystick, but I can't seem to get the pedals to work.

Old analog gameports, not the "pro" USBs.

When i did this along time ago i thought there was a check box for rudders when you installed the joystick . The only way i could get mine to work was when i piggy backed it to a joystick

EDIT

I just looked when i click ADD in the game controlers tab, under the list of joystick names i have a box that says Enable rudders and Pedals.  GL

I noticed that too. However when I click my joystick (MS Sidewinder auto detect) it greys this box out and it doesn't seem to work when I calibrate the stick afterwards.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried disabling one of the gameports to leave just the one you want to use. - I am just thinking that there may be some sort of conflict!

If you have a throttle axis on the stick, maybe it is trying to share the same axis as the pedals ? - It is just that I thought the game port analogue connections are hard wired and so when you have 4 correctly wired axis you can use them all. I have no idea if there is a standard that makers follow when using the axis we use for rudder and throttle. I think it all started out by as a way to have two, two axis joysticks connected, but the second stick ended up being used for rudder and throttle.

The pedals are gameport. The joystick is gameport. Sie sind nicht gemischt.

I don't think it's a gameport conflict, because I have one going to the motherboard and one on the SB Audigy. Both work interchangably with the joystick. I even unplugged the joystick to try just the pedals, but I just don't know how to get them in the list of items to add when I select the "add" button.

I think what the people mean is add a new device and click on the check box to also list pedals, then add the most appropiate pedal instead of a joystick. You cant change the type of the device already added..

It doesn't really have many pedals. It's got a few "control yoke with pedals" and a "CH Pro Pedals" (which doesn't work, these aren't Pro), but no real generic "rudder pedal" entry.

I hope I'm not out of luck here.

I tried putting them in the gameport, and the joystick in them. In fact I might have it that way right now. Only the joystick works. The pedals don't.

I guess I have to wait til I can afford "Pro" pedals :(

you may have to change the stick reconition off of ms sidewinder and set it up as a 3 axis w/ peds  X's the button amount .

OR AE

  a 6 button w/pov and throttle
then check the rudder box

OR  do a "Custom" setup

whats messing things up is the rudder axis is still in the Stick and on autoconfig for a ms sidewinder its reconizing this axis and not your peds . your gonna have to fool windows into thinking the rudder axis in the stick isnt there .

I know this can be done in win98 ,me, w2k . I'm not shure about XP though.

I don't know but I know that you can grab you a gameport to USB adapter and it works fine.  I run CH USB Fighterstick USB and Throttle Pro USB with my old CH rudder pedals (gameport).  There are several gameport to USB adapters on the market and Radio Shack has one that I use.  Winblows recognizes it as an USB adapter and you just do the calibration routine and click next until you get to the Z axis section and put it to the numbers and then click finish.  Works perfectly.

All the Best...
