It's an automatic, which isn't my first choice, but finding Z's with a manual transmission is very hard around here.  They are either very high mileage cars or are trailer queens and too expensive.  I still need to give the car my own personal inspection but I am hoping that will go smoothly.  I'd still would rather have my old Camaro but I'll take this one for now, until the new ones come out...if they ever.

I'm happy for you Diablo.   I hope this car IS yours, and gives you as much enjoyment as one can get out of it.   <>

I think 310hp will keep me happy.  For a while.

Please elaborate, how am I in the middle of LS1 central?  I had no idea.

i dont see it that way, i seen ls1 crate motors and they want 6 7k, for that i can get a heavy modded 80s camaro(everything from small blocks to big blocks to superchargered). They made it offical that camaro is coming out in 08, people are already reserving them. Anythin over 13-11k is too much. The worst thing about u old men that get these cars is that deep down alot of u want vettes. At 25k ur better off wit a 60's camaro, that shouldnt be a hard find in texas.

Some of the fastest LSX cars are from Houston and a great deal of the best speed shops for these cars are in TX. S.A.M. or the School for Automotive Machinist's is located there. They are in the process of building the first 500 c.i. LS2. It should be a ground pounder. Estimates are saying 600 N/A but I don't know if that would be at the flywheel or at the wheel. I am going to guess at the flywheel, but that would still make a little over 500 rwhp through a manual.

When I bought my SS I was planning on keeping it stock. That lasted about 3 months until I rode in a friend of mines WS6 that was s/c. The mod bug bit and hasn't turned loose yet.  You may have more self control than I do and I hope the bug doesn't bite you as hard as it did me.

That's ironic Diablo, I was looking at Carmax's TA/Z28s last week. I need an airport car for the winter, don't want the snow/salt combo eat up my daily driver classic. I guess I'm not in texas/ so cal anymore :D I too was looking for a manual but didn't find a color/price combo I liked. I still have 1 - 1.5 month before the heavy snow ... hopefully.

But since I have to carry my familly around, I almost picked a Jag X, green, 35K, V6, 3.0, 230HP Manual gear box for $17,000. Sucks to grow old with responbilities!

sweet car bro
of coarse looking at your avatar, you would look better in a 1970 Chevelle with the big block 454 and cowl induction in it :) :) I think they were around 360 hp 500'lbs of torque, oh man what a sweet ride

almost near 60, dont forget ur meds grandpa:lol

Funny thing is the old guys i talk to tell me this, they look at my 86 and tell me its a toy, and pull out a c3 vette redone with a 454. Theres a guy mike, has a beast of a 442 told me that its sad what the car makers do, that in his day somethin like a camaro was dirt cheap with minor modds give u 300 horse, a fun car to drive and race but there was always one older guy that came with a suped up vette and pwned everyone. I just hate that im the only guy around here that noes what a camaro is, im stuck in generation rice:mad: . I seriously rather talk to u older guys then guys my age, nothin but rap videos and rice on the brain.

That camaro looks good, u got ur leather t-tops, ss rims would have been nice but on a performance car it doesnt matter, without them ull get the car for cheaper. I really dont like those bodys much but if it was me the first thing that u need on that car is a after market hood, would be cool to get a ram air set up but they want too much for that, as long as air blews into the engine bay we will call it ram air. Simple things like some magnaflow exhuast maybe a high flow cat or the o/r pipe cold air and maybe the racing chip. NOthin crazy so u can drive everyday without drinking gas.

Sure did.  Greatest cars ever for the money.

As for the 1970 Chevelle...hey bro, you got a spare $50k?

Frenchy, it's amazing how fast these cars are selling around here (the LS1's).  That Carmax had a TA come in that morning and by the afternoon is was gone.  I'm just glad I found a Z at my price level that has just about everything that I want.

Bk, it ain't about the 'vettes.  I like 'vettes too but I've always been an f-body man since as long as I can remember.  You "choose" not to see it that way but you don't have to.  Why spend 6k - 7k for a crate motor when you can get the whole car for 15k?  That ain't a whole lot of money especially considering what you're getting for it.

Wooderson: Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, all right. We got 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some ****in' muscle.

Well, you're proving my point.  Why just get a crate motor when you can buy the whole car?

Reminds me of that scene in Fast And The Furious when Vin tells that guy, "Not a bad way to spend ten thousand dollars."  Can you imagine what you could do to a small block for that and wouldn't even need NOS/turbos/blower?  Cracks me up everytime I see it.  That Dodge Charger was the best part of that movie.  Sorry, it was the ONLY good part of that movie.
