New arenas
« on: September 28, 2006, 03:07:13 PM »
Well, after a time of playing the new arenas, I must say that I'm not happy that these changes are forced upon us as they are. I believe that it would have been more constructive to make the Early and Mid arenas optional. The late arena is always full at 250, squads can almost never link up, numbers and Eny are always screwed. In my squadron, we have 4 different elements, ie Fighters, Bombers, etc. Even though there is text across arenas, it is only limited to my particular squad(Fighters). I cannot text anyone in Bombers, Jabos. This new setup has done a lot to disgruntle long- time AH players, quite a few who have quit, with more leaving each day to other sims. I believe HT should reevaluate this forced change. If numbers in MA were an issue, get a better dedicated server. The technolgy, and companies are out there itching for the business. This game has come a long way, but I think that it has taken a major step backwards in this implementation, and forced change. HT, please reconsider the arena setup, change the other arenas to optional. Gameplay has taken a serious, and negative turn, with these changes.

Oh, BTW TOD out in 2 weeks :)

It's not all negitive no more freekin LA-7's and Spit-16's ganging you every time you up.... In the other arenas that is, I really don't see why we don't have more people in the MWA good plane set all around and fair fights....  I can truthfully say I have not uped a single plane in the LWA after they changed things.  Though I do miss the F4U-4 a bit but I'll trade that for the lack of LA7's and Spit16's in the other arenas.  I sometimes think that there are so many in the LWA because so many need the cruches of those uber planes. I know that this statement might not be totally acurate but it's just the way it seems..:)

I'm finding it difficult to get into the Late War Arena with the rest of my squad.  Jumping into LW2 with 11 people doesnt quit work for me.

Why not boost the more popular arena to 300 or 400?  Or increase all of them?

Thanks !

I don't know, I really like the change. The old MA bored me to tears it was either be the gangbanger, or be the gangbangee. Not much fun either way for me.

Don't get me wrong I'm not afraid to fight when I'm out numbered as a matter of fact I kind of enjoy it, because those occasions that I come out the victor makes me feel like I have accomplished something, but in the old MA a 3v1 soon turned into a 10v1, with the cherry pick usualy the rule. Since the change I have had many great fights, some I win some I lose but for the most part the fights have been good.

I've been flying in the MWA as a knight because they always seem to be out numbered, and so far the people I've been flying with have been great. And for the most part the enemy be it bish or rook have been great, sure there are still those that HO, and run, but they seem to be a lot less than they were in the old MA.

It also seems that a lot of AH old timers are coming back to the game because they see the opportinity for a challenge. Real fights be it air to air, or air to ground. If your squadies are leaving because of the changes that's to bad, but I know many of mine that left before the changes because of the stagnant state of the old MA.

My personal opinion (yes I know everyone has one) is that game play has taken a serious and positive turn for the better with these changes.

For what it's worth, as of a minute ago the numbers were:

18/EW
69/MW
250/LW1
15/LW2

Seems like LW holds the interest of the most players. This seems to be the case every time I log in. I don't really know what to think other than the fact that I haven't enjoyed the game nearly as much since the changes. I've flown EW and had fun, just not as much as I used to. Bear in mind I've only been here for about six months though. Whatever...

So if that is a fact then removing those planes should distribute the population across all arenas.

Do you really believe that would happen?

Also note that the planes sets are relative:

in the EWA the Hurri IIc / Spit 9 = La7 / Spit 16 respectively.

I go to late-war a lot.  I don't go there to fly la7's, I go there because there is more to kill.

Normally, if late-war is full, I just go watch TV.:D

i don't really like the new setup.  Squad is seperated, not enough to kill in the arenas i can get in, and if i can get in to LWA i still find it hard to find someone sometimes.
if the arena cap was pped it would be better.

What would it hurt, to up the numbers in the arenas. If there is demand for  the LW arena, then why cant the maximum number of players be upped?
I think that the players have spoken, just look at the numbers.
I am by no means saying eliminate the other arenas. But having a second LW with 40 players?
I assure you that the majority of players in LW dont like it, and many of them are silenced by the fact that they dont post here. Or they simply dont like getting flamed by members of this "community."
So, here we go. Let the flames fly, and the fan boys croon.

Kind of like the Hurricane IIc

I like the LW because I can fly whatever I choose and not have to jump arenas to do it. Maybe the majority of players like the same thing, quite a novel idea, and want to be where there are large amounts of people. I'm all for the changes, if an arena with 50 people in it is your idea of a good time in the game that's great but it just really isn't what I'm looking for.

because HT is trying to create a community, not gang bangers.  he probably should shrink the cap size for MA1 so MA2 might have more players.

and for further note, usually fan boy, or "fan boi" is an insult used when you are describing players that like a game that you don't play and do not like. :rofl why would you call someone who likes the game, that you pay to play a fan boy, when clearly you are a fan yourself.  and if you are not a fan, why are you playing?

I thought the community already was in place.

Mindless stab, your just picking a fight... For no apparent reason.

fanboy:
 1. A person who is completely loyal to a game or company reguardless of if they suck or not.
You may have intentionally twisted the definition to suit your need. I'm not impressed.

There are further definitions, go look it up, rather than flame. You are wrong!

Do you have anything constructive to add? Rather, I should say, anything?

Next?

Has anyone taken notice that HT un-hid the LW2 today?
I recommended that if the numbers were going to stay consistent around LW1 250 and LW2 at 15 to 40....then we could even lower the cap in both the LW1 and LW2 to 180ish...It would at least populate both arenas on an even keel.
