Since the invasion of Iraq some estimates put the number of uniformed & non uniformed enemy combatants killed at 40,000. The number of foreign mercenaries (now, interestingly called "freedom fighters"- freeing whom from what?) killed at 10,000. So we have done well, considering what we have in Iraq begs the definition of combat. Unlike most armies if a patrol is killed by an IED Americans don't randomly kill a few dozen local civilians. We leave that tactic to our enemies and their bomb donkies (oh, I forgot- "martyrs").
