I don't know why people keep writing "goodbye cruel world" posts here. If you have a problem with the game and want to leave either just leave or send an email to HiTech Creations... posting here just opens you up to scorn and ridicule.

No, but the current method of field capture might be.  Though, I don't know why it makes a difference that it hasn't changed.

Oh, but there's more.

I just deleted all AH from my system, to keep the temptation from playing a sub-fun game and motivating me to try all the other sims.

This sounds fair at a glance, but quickly becomes more fragmented as you delve deeper. In most situations, the realization that an activity is "sub-fun", would be incentive enough for most people to move on to a different activity without any further ado. The poster of the above quote reveals in the opening line that for him quitting AH is not a trivial matter. He's made a ritual of it. This is a common thing when people feel overpowered by a habit. Think of toddlers kicking the passifier habit or of smokers trying to quit as examples. When locked into a certain "modus operandi" either by physical dependency, habitualness, compulsiveness or a mix between the three; breaking the pattern of behaviour often takes more than cognitive resources.

I'd rather fight against AI than be jerked around and have the game changed every year wether its broke or not.

This is a clear indication of the compulsive nature that AH playing can have for many players. Whatever you think in your mind, you instinctively resist change. This coupled with what SOB points in the quote at the top, sheds light on how ambivalent the original poster is. This is natural, established habits are like old friends whether we choose to rid ourselves of them or not. We react with mourning even if we welcome the change.

The original poster closes with a moving, almost poetic "ode to AH":
Quote
I'll be on the lookout for the next sim with a mega arena that comes as close to warfare as I'll ever get, ( i hope) >S<

He loved the "mega arena" of the AH of old, he mourns the loss and promises to look for his love.

A feeble hope, only worthy of parenthesis, is all he's got.

I think it was two years ago - I quit AH cold turkey.   Deleted the game, put away the joystick and pedals, packed away the headset.    What I have learned in that time is that the itch never goes away.

HiTech and crew on what you've created here.  It was by far the most powerful and addicting game experience I ever had.    A big to all I flew with and against - Hitech made the game but you guys brought it to life.

I noted with interest the retirement of a single MA, and I'm looking forward to reading you guy's impressions when Combat Theater is finally released.

Dan, is Itsy Bitsy still in the game?

A rhetorical question?  Past and present?  Perhaps more succinctly?

Does a consistency of base capture over a three year time span present conclusive evidence of overall stagnation and lack of evolution in AH?

lol, yea 350 in lwa and the rest spread between the ewa mwa.

I cut my account sunday nite, ill wait until we start getting updates or tod is added. Its sucks because this nov i would have put in a full year. Last flight in a p51d, killed a tempest and a f4u1d, funny because i remember my first time i couldnt even get the p51 off the ground. ghost718 is dead:cry . Ill try some new games but hopefully by april or may updates new planes tod are here(includeing korea:aok ). For now ill just keep track of the bb's and keep up with the news.  Aces high has alot of potential and with time should become the primer air combat sim.  But with no upgrades this will never happen.

Not in my mind, which is why I am unsure about why he brought it up.
