Blowing smoke into somebody's face, intentionally, is considered offensive contact, which is the key element of battery. Yes, it's crazy, but there is actually precedent for this in American Common Law.

The cop could, and probably would, cuff you, and take you in. The fact that it's weed would only aggravate the situation.

Quick point about the original article / posting:

Cannabis is not legal in the UK - its not even been de-criminalised.

About 3 years ago, it was reclassified from a class-B to a class-C controlled substance. What this effectively means is that if you get caught with a relatively small amount, you are unlikely to be charged with an offense. You may receive a Police Caution - a kind of official warning as to your future conduct that goes on your record (and may - for example - preclude entry to the US under the visa-waiver program).

Dealing will still land you a fairly lengthy spell as a guest of Her Majesty.

Point is - regardless of what you may or may not be able to do in Denver, DO NOT try blowing smoke from a doobie in a London copper's face or you'll quickly find out how they compensate for their lack of firearms.
