Bombers
« on: October 16, 2006, 07:21:37 AM »
Yesterday I was doing a couple of bombing runs in my B-17's and was attacked by an F4U-1. I managed to obliterate it and my bombers were in fairly decent shape... except for one thing... a pilot wound.
Then I got to thinking, if the Pilot is wouneded, couldn't the Co-Pilot takeover instead of your bomber blowing up into oblivion?

Hi VVV ... i don't know if you remember me .. we've had a little nice fight in MWA yesterday
.. concerning the co-pilot : my opinion is we shouldn't use the co-pilot because it will be another credit we'll add to bombers (they have huge gun power, the pilot it's able to switch on the auto-pilot and runs to ANY gun he wants). It won't be fair for fighters.

At the end a single pilot has ALREADY :
- 2 pilots for the drones who can run also to ANY gun.
(the realism we r looking for could have advantages and disadvantages)

..but this is me ..

hmmm. I think we should keep the blacking out until the pilot DIES, than add a copilot, who can, himself be killed or wounded. But yes, B-17s have so many advantages, I almost feel sorry for anything other than a 163 who approaches me.

Maybe your plane shouldn't just blow up.

Maybe it should just be as if you bailed.  The ICON above your plane should turn off and your plane should fall to the ground while all you see is black and are still strapped in the plane.

As for bombers.....you just get put into a drone plane and your previous plane should fall to the ground.  If you are really high up, then have your plane just burst into flames and pieces after it's fallen 10k or so.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

Hey, they should have it so if you run at maximum power for too long, your engines go "BOOOOOM!!!!". There IS a reason for the word MAX in max cruise... :D

To be honest, I think that the primo bombers (17 and 24) are way too uber right now, especially when they are in formations...  Making them more survivable would be even more unbalancing, IMHO.  Anyone with decent gunnery can make swiss cheese out of any attacking fighter.. with 2 good gunners they are invincible, unless you mob them.

Perhaps we can have medics aboard bombers, as to patch up the wounded :)

That would be nice, lol. At least something to that effect because I doubt your crew is going to let you die from a .303 in the arm.... but they might if a 30mm ripped you a new one :D
