I know we are spoiled here in the heartland. But what a great ride so far this year.
I hope they get to play Detrot in the World Series.

The Real Story that the Media is missing is the genius of Dave Dombroski - the Tigers GM.  He is the guy who built the Marlins championship team.  The whole time the Tigers were lossing 100 games + , he was stocking the farm system with unbelievable pitching.  Some of the trades he pulled off (even with the yankees) are simply hard to believe.  Everybody was laughing at the Tigers the last four years, the whole time he was sneaking around picking up the best young arms in baseball.  The Tigers have three pitchers that can hit 100+ mph on the gun...amazing.  None of them are older than 23.  Joel Zymeya (sp) can and did reach 105 mph.  105 mph !!!!!!  That's got to be the record.  Now, my point, the tigers have all these young pitchers + thier farm system is bursting with even younger arms.

And that, sadly, has always been the Cardinals' weak spot.  Pitching.  You can have the best fielders and hitters in the league, and the Cards often do.  But without good pitchers to sew it up ...........

I am and always will be a Cardinals fan.  The Mets are pond scum, we'll beat them.  But I'm afraid beyond that, it will just be a repeat of the Red Sox / Cardinals WS.

If they get past the Mets, who knows.

Anything is possible, Chicago Bears , 5-0, *almost* beat the Cardinals (1-4) in MNF, but the Cards lost. Oh, we were talking baseball! :D

If the Cards make it to play Detroit, I'll certainly be cheering for the underdog, Cards. :aok

I am a Tigers fan - so I'm a bit biased,  but get used to the Tigers winning for a very long time.

I've never seen an organization so focused on Pitching.  From the start, thier new stadium was built to be VERY PITCHER friendly.  While everybody was building stadiums that made routine flys into Hr's - so the fan will be happy, the Tigers focused on building one that would attraced top pitchers.  STAT: Not one HR has been hit ALL YEAR to center field (at Tiger stadium) ...the distance is so great.  Oh, and they even moved the fences in a few years back because the stupid fairweather fans wanted more hr's.

From park design to everything the Tigers do is Pitching focused.  They bring in average to above average jourynmen bats and grow thier own world class pitching talent.

look for others to copy that model...

well if no one can hit HRs in that place, the Cards should do great, they have a great defense.

Since Carpenter is on the mound I have a feeling St Louis will take the series tonight. But I do think that once they get to the series Detroit is going to pound the crap out of em.

I do have to say I'm a bit biased too. I'm not a Detroit fan, but I am a Brewer fan. Since my team has been a joke since 1992 one of the few joys I've had in my pathetic baseball world is watching the Cubs and the Cardinals lose.

:lol Choocha  GO CARDS!

Seems that whichever team loses tends to have a defensive breakdown around the 6th or 7th inning.
