yup, what he said.

The 350mb versions look great on a computer and just fine using my TV out Svideo cable.

For an hour long show, a decent to good DivX format version will run about 75mb.  Unless I plan on keeping it I don't waist the time and b/w downloading any tv show bigger than that.  A normal movie in decent viewing is about 750mb in the same format.

I start the torrent for BSG whenever I wake up on Saturday, and it's usually done downloading in about half an hour. A show like BSG needs to be seen in high quality, and 30 minutes seems reasonable considering it takes me longer than that to shower, drink as much water as possible (grrr hangovers on Saturday), and eat something. Plus, the HDTV versions look badass on my laptop.

The 350MB ones are not HD.  I haven't seen any season 3 HD rips available yet.

"Boxey" was the kids name and he made an appearance in the minseries. He was the kid in the Raptor that got Baltar off Caprica and stranded Helo. I would hope that robot panda thing never shows up.

the thing thats really missing from this BSG vs the Original, is the Diversity of each colony . they also dont mention the different goverments each had .

Its had been touched upon some but nothing in any real detail

By HD rips, I mean the show is ripped off an HD feed. i.e. looks badass on a computer

The show is on the SCI-FI channel which doesn't broadcast in HD yet.

So where people are getting HD rips from?

Universal-HD shows BSG, but not the latest episodes.

Only if sufficient bandwidth is used to encode the HD feed. With insufficient bandwidth you can make a HD feed look just as crappy on a computer as videos on Youtube.

That's the problem.. the 350mb versions may be HD rips but they're not HD quality.

I've heard rumours of 700mb versions that supposedly are HD quality.

Fishu, you may be right about them not being HD quality, but keep in mind that DivX MPEG 4 encoding will get more quality with less space than the equivalent MPEG 2 stream.  It may be possible to get "into the ballpark" at that size.

chair.. the BSG government is a military occupation.   the only good thing about it is that it's that or the cylons.... even more oppressive....

I simply don't like the world they are creating.  If you look at it you will see that it is only ok in the way socialism and commie governments are...  In that the only people with choices and lives worth living are those in power or close to the power.

they hint that some are not happy with the oppressive government but.... just like in real life.. those people are never shown... only the important people and... they only interact with other important people.  They seem to treat the little people with studied indifference.

It would be odd to me that there wouldn't be more arrests.   I can't imagine people being that happy about a millitary dictatorship.

I heard getting rid of Pegasus was done due to costs have having two battlestar sets. So it was an external production issue, and not just a story driven decision.

Overall, BSG was the series I looked forward to seeing the most. It's now 2nd behind Heroes for me.
