Please make the barracks stronger. I think 2000lbs should be required to disable troops. That will take out the LA7 porkers and make anyone who wants to take down troops have to fly heavy.

Also, If 1 plane can take down the barracks, 1 goon/M3 should be able to bring them back up...

Woa, 2000lbs for a barrack?

2000lbs bombs sink ships, and you want it to be the minimum for a Nissen hut?? :huh

It's not for realism obviously. It's about playability. Tired of seeing La7's taking out troops. They dive in, pork troops, and fly away unscathed.

Even making the Airfield barracks like the VH barracks would help...

You think it reasonable and realistic that a few cannon rounds destroy a barracks and kill everyone inside and out?:huh

Of course Virgil, they are Knights.  They're watching TV.  And they're Rooks wondering what show the Knights are watching.

I don't think anyone would be in those huts, do you?

The minute that siren goes off the troops are in trenches and shelters.  They can't really be destroyed by a few passes of a cannon-firing fighter.

Of course that would eliminate half the bish's fun of suiciding on a barracks in their LA-7 to watch the pretty boom before they face-plant next to the destroyed troops.

Troops should always be available imo.  Gameplay would be better for it.

The La-7 seems to have 5 x 20mm cannons, and considering their shells explode, it would be quite possible a steady stream would knock out a barrack :)

I even think a small 100lbs bomb should do the job (with a direct hit)

I think in an ideal stuation there would be like 60 scattered barrack objects at a vehicle field.

At  air fields its about right now.

I wouldlike the link between supplies and barracks broken.

I think this has been suggested before, one strenghten the barracks.  another suggestion, (which has been suggested before also) increase the number of barracks objects on the field and spread them around.

There probably could be 3x the number of barracks and have separate objects for supplies like a couple of warehouse building.  Troops and Supplies separated.  Also could consider the possibility of as barracks get destroyed then number of troops available are reduced by percentages.  All Barracks up then 100% troops, you can load 10 troops.  Barracks 50% down, you can only load 5.  Barracks down to 25% you can only load 2-3 troops.  Leave it like fuel is, 25% no less.  You can still get troops just you need 4 or 5 M3s or C-47s for captures.

Simpler Solution
« Reply #11 on: October 26, 2006, 12:40:01 PM »
The simplest solution would be to let barracks respawn after 15 minutes like the hangers do.  It always seemed weird that tents and a hut take 8x as long to respawn as does a reinforced concrete hanger.

If anything should be reinforced "hardness-wise" it should be the reinforced concrete ammo bunker.  If anything should be able to resist a little bit of 20mm cannon fire, it should be that.  Make the ammo bunkers take the big bombs to kill and set the troops to respawn after 15 minutes.

Killing the barracks is a waste of time.  You need to kill the troops.  Exploding rounds will do wonders against a hut, but nothing against the troops in the bomb shelter.

That takes bombs.

Personally I think troops should always be available also.  If you want to stop troops you have to kill the VH and all of the BHs.  THEN all those troops in the shelters have no way to get where they're going.  Enough iron to sink a CV even on a small field.  No more lone porkers taking out an entire front line.
