IS THERE ANY CARD THAT WILL HELP IMPROVE THE FPS ON MY AMD k6-2-450!????   If so which ones?  Any reccomended settings?
I have the K6-2-450 with 128 RAM and Black Magic (voodoo1) card at the moment.  It's damned frustrating flying with shft F2 and F3 to get frame rates good enough to fight with.  RUINS the whole eye candy of the game.

If the AMD K6-2 is not salvageable in AH, then I'll have to leave the game until I can afford to upgrade to Intell.

Of course, that'd make HT and a lot of other rather happy, I am sure.

Tern,
voodoo2 cards are pretty cheap now and a pair would really speed you up.  Heck you will get a difference with a single voodoo2 card.  My brother runs a k6-2 333 w/64mb mem.  He has a TNT2 and a single voodoo2.  With the single voodoo2 at 800x600 he is getting near 24fps avg.
Also check out the reviews on the K-7 chips.  This is a cheaper alternative than getting an Intel cheap and the FPU seems to be up to par for gaming.  I don't have anyone locally running this chip yet to see actual performance but looking at reviews it may be worth a try.
You could try the TNT2 card but be forewarned that TNT2 uses CPU power to speed up graphics and with a K6 you won't gain much over the Voodoo2 in most applications.

You can check www.pricewatch.com  to compare prices on the above mentioned equiptment.  Just keep an eye on shipping charges     I built this box from there and saved a bit of money in the long run.
I do hope that you can find a reasonable solution to the FPS problem.

S!

Hi Terne,

I have been playing with 3 setups recently,  a Vodoo2 x 2 in SLI mode, Vodoo 3, and Geforce 256.  If budgeting is an issue, i would go with a Vodoo 3 AGP, Best Buy had them for 149.00 this weekend.  The P2/266 system I was testing it on got from 28 to 40 fps in 1024x768.  Hope this helps, cya.

I'm running an AMD K6-2 400 w/ a Diamond Viper 770 Ultra TNT2 ultra card.  After turning off the ground clutter (who wants to see all those sheep anyway) I run 25 to 40fps

Actually no I did not.  I need some better info than BrandX (GeForce) blows the screen away, only to find out later that the GeForce doesn't support the AMD either.  And that's according to Creation.com's own techs.
So... Pongo, I really trully appreciate any info anyone can give me getting this 8 month old PC a better view in AH.
Thanks for reading the thread at least.
