Don't you think this is the best Mercedes Benz ever?

(W140 S Klasse)

But these days I hear how new Benz (for the lack for better word...) suck compare to BMWs and Lexus. I hear horror stories of electrical problems on MBs that costs $$$:(

I didn't say THE worst, I said ONE of the worst. If I had to give the worst to one chassis it'd be the W201.

The W140 is bloated, unstylish, mechanically challenged, and over-engineered to the nth degree. If you don't believe me, buy one, you'll find out soon enough.

And start saving up now for an evaporator. Scratch that, better save up for 2. Oh, and window motors, vacuum pumps, climate control bellows, switches (all of them), tires wear very quickly, brake pads for stopping that behemoth which leads to rotors and calipers, etc...I could go on.

At least it isn't a W201.

That's why poor people shouldn't buy a mercedes. Pov tulips can get the Toyota (Lexus, whatever)

You need to afford to maintain it as well as buy it.

My parents have only ever had MB since before I was born and they have never complained about any major issues. A few months back i bought my dads 2004 model and its an ok car. Not my first choise if i were to buy a car from a regular dealer, but im satisfied.

FYI: I was back at the shop I used to manage a couple of days ago. The owner, my friend, was doing a maintenance service on a W220. The look on his face was hilarious. I saw the back doors opened and the rear seat removed. I pointed at this and said, "What the **** are you doing? Did they put the battery back there like in the 210's?"

He laughed and said he was replacing the fuel filter and according to the local MB dealership (none other than A-Rod Mercedes) said it was buried below the rear seat as part of the fuel module in the gas tank and you had to be VERY careful when replacing the filter (something about knocking something out of sync with the fuel sending unit).

The ole 126's were damn near bullet-proof. Except for the single roller 380 engines and the 603's with the trap-oxydizers, those were damn good cars.

MB oughta take engineering lessons from Toyota and Honda:D

Lexus LS and GS beats the Benz S and E class respectively by ten-fold

The new Benz C and E series are the biggest lemons ever to hit the road. There was a time when MB cars recived more complaints THAN American cars such as BUICK.

The older ones ain't that great either. The W123 is the only MB I'd ever get myself. Stunning looks and comfort(incredibly good seats), and amazing performance on the Diesel models!

Heh I own two E-class mercedeses and I've never had trouble with them in the past 80 000 miles. Sure, maintenance was needed but nothing a bunch of $$ and a good mechanic couldn't handle.

I'd never EVER trade them for toyotas, even if the toyo's would last forever.
