Chest Thumping? PLEASE
« on: November 06, 2006, 11:43:37 AM »
I apologize in advance for the rant, but I have read enough posts on this board regarding uber planes and pilot dweebs.  Enough of the chest thumping "I am a better man and more skilled human than you because I got skillz in my cartoon plane."

For all those out there who think that this GAME is going to effect the outcome of the freeworld, please, enough already.  Let me give you a reality check.......

This is a game and the fact that you are more skilled than me or the next guy does not make you "better people."  The ability to fly the planes (uber and non-uber) in this game is completely irrelavant to the price of tea in China.  While this game may even teach the basic skillz need to fly real combat until you have the NUTS to actually face those flying bullets, there is no need to come here and pound your chest.

I know that we have people from all walks of life in here.  We have the military, we have doctors, lawyers, accountants, ditch-diggers, cops, and fireman.  You name it, I am sure it is represented.

That having been said, let me first salute those soldiers, sailors, airman, and marines  I offer a salute to the fireman and the cops and everyone else that "lays it on the line everyday."

To the rest..... until you have lain in the foxhole on the front line, or stood your ground as the drug thug sends bullets whizzing past your head, or rushed into the burning building to save a life, SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE.  Your cartoon skillz don't mean a hill of beans in the real world.  Come in here and enjoy the game, but for Gods sake, relax!

the guys that brag about being good are usually well below par, while flying loads of hours and having high ranks. ignore them and follow your own advice, relax :)

I am a better man and more skilled human than you NClawman because I got skillz in my cartoon plane. Also I flew against a chinaman the other night, he said if i beat him he'd buy me some tea, i won, so the price of tea in china went down for me.

I am no military man nor a police man nor a fire man nor a lawyer nor a ditch digger etc. I did save a puppy once though so i r 1337. My cartoon skillz pwn yours and thats makes you a sad panda.

Not sure what the reference to the Sad Panda is supposed to mean, but let me assure you that when some thug breaks into your house in the middle of the night, it is this sad panda who responds so that you can crawl out from under your bed.

i have mixed feeling about chest thumpers.  on one hand you are right, it really doesn't matter.  on the other hand, this game is based on skill.  it usually starts with someone saying you can't do something in a plane.  then someone knows you can, and says you can.  the other refuses to believe, and the fight is on.  doesn't really strike me as chest thumping.  AH has always had some level of smack talk, but there is a difference bewtween challenging someone and trying to brag.   also, if the other party is willing to play along, i say let em duke it out.  if someone told you you couldn't do something, and you know you could, it seems like human nature to show that you can, the other trying to show you can't.  it's all competition, but you are very right, it is just a computer game in the end.....now how to apply this idea that it's just a video game towards other areas of gameplay/community

If it was my house, you'd be the one calling the coroner and taking pics of a dead perp.  :D

I agree completely.  Challenging one another and even a little smack talk gives the game personality.  The chest thumping I am refering to is the ones (who shall remain nameless) who come to these boards and present themselves as some "superior race" or "higher class citizen".  I have no issue with people bragging or even challenging others to duel whatsoever.  People even earn the right to brag after winning those engagements.  But why do some feel it is necessary to come in and insult entire groups of people while presenting themselves as the "upper crust" of society?

The fact that I beat Mike Tyson on Nintedo does not make me a professional boxer.  Nor does beating a cartoon plane make me a professional fighter pilot.

I am not suggesting that we all sit, holding hands, singing cumbiyah.  I only suggest a few more people refrain from pounding on their own chest and maybe even pat someone else on the back once in a while.  And, remember there are no "superior races" regardless of Aces High skillz.

You should follow your own advice.    Only reality check is you imitating a "Uber-L337 Net-Ninja".

For the record, Marines don't dig "foxholes", they dig "fighting holes".
