Quick perk question
« on: November 09, 2006, 07:31:42 PM »
Someone correct me, please.

From what I understand, it's my ENY divided by enemy OBJ multiplied by perk point bonus (PPB).

IE- if I'm flying a spit I (eny 40) and shoot down a n1k (obj 10) and my country has the most people, with a ppb of .90, I would get 3.6 perk points.

Do I have this right?

it doenst matter how many people are on

if you shot down a nik with a spit you should get about 10 perks

not sure how it works but just kill as many people as u can kill.

No -
Perks gained in air combat is your ENY divided by enemy ENY multiplied with current modifier. (If you side is vastly outnumberd, you get much more perks for shooting down enemies)

OBJ is for determining perk point gain when bombing things

It does matter.

Amount of perks you get factor the current country perk multiplier. If your country has the high numbers, it is below 1 and you get considerably less perks.

Quick perk question

I've been here on AH for about a year and I hadn't figured it out, nor knew where to look to figure it out. In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter to me, I haven't broken 1000 in my score yet. Of course, once I've figured out the scoring system, everybody's in trouble..... ;)

To summarize:

my ENY / enemy ENY * perk point bonus = perk points

That makes it easier for me to understand why I only get .13 perk points after shooting down and landing 3 kills in a spit IX in the EWA.

Hehe. Yep.

BTW, the price you have to pay for that SMk9 if you *dont* make it back also depends on the perk multiplier (on spawning for that sortie) and of course its ENY value.

Also, score has little to nothing to do with perks. (Im living proof of that - im a huge perk collector in my HMk1... rank.... er.... oh.... errmmmmm.... whats that? :D)

Tex,

Since the topic of numbers came up, and since you mentioned score...

Simplest approach to getting a low score is to fill in as many categories as possible with the best numbers you can get. Most high scores happen because of empty slots -- which give you a very high number for that category -- since overall rank is determined by averaging all the category ranks on your score page. For example, if you were chasing a low rank you'd want to make sure that you captured at least one field from a C-47 and one from an M3/LVT; that you made some bomb runs, usually hitting a strat target with heavy bombs to get higher bomb hit% and points per death; attacked a city using PT rockets; destroyed buildings with a GV; and so on.

Getting a pretty good rank just requires paying a lot of attention to the quirky details of the game scoring system, filling in those blanks, and being careful to not "waste" sorties with statistically harmful behavior (like taking off from a vulched field, or flying bombers and dying, etc.). Getting the very best ranks requires that kind of gamesmanship, plus the skills to get lots of kills fast, etc.

Read the help files on scoring.  It is clearly spelled out and demonstrated.

I just caught that little tidbit. Its YourPlanesENY divided by OtherPlaneENY multiplied with PPB (also multiplied with 1.25 when you land your sortie).

The OBJ value determins how many perkies you get for destroying a building with that plane.

It's always more believable coming from a teutonic authority figure!
