Post Season Championship Game

#1 Vestavia Hills-Blue 7   vs.    #3 Thompson 0

It was a hard fought game and the temperatures were dropping all day long from the high that morning of 65 down to a windy, cold 43 by game time at 1pm.  We could not throw the ball at all with the way the wind was whipping around so we stuck to our ground game.  We held them to 4 first downs and just 41 yards of total offense and we picked up 5 first downs and 111 yards of total offense.  It was a true in the trenches battle offensively and defensively.

Very cool! Literally!  Congrats!
43 deg is a heat wave around here lately!  We had our "Superbowl" for the Cascade conference vs the Puget Sound conferences. Our Cascade Conference teams took 4 out of 5 games yesterday. WE RULE!

Did you hear my son got Defensive MVP for his team this year? :aok

Football Season is officially over here. Wrestling has started.

No rest for the weary, that includes me...I shot 18 hours of wrestling tournament and championship football over the week-end. This week-end I'll be shooting 14 hours of Washington State soccer semi-finals.

WTG Vestavia Hills! Considering both Bama and Auburn lost, I gotta find some solace somewhere. In fact, this is even better!:aok

Thanks Slimm and Rip.  BTW Slimm the high school team ended the regular season 8-2 and second in their region behind Hoover.  They lost to Hoover by 4 points in the regular season.  They won their opening round playoff game the other night agasint Oxford HS.

This was one of those seasons when you look out at the kids on the field who have played together for 4 seasons now and you start remembering when they (my son is one of them) were in first grade or kindergarden playing for the first time and barely broke 45#.  Now they are all approaching 5 feet tall and 100# in weight and they will knock the crap out of any other team they line up against.

A bunch of parents wanted to go down to the youth football super bowl in Florida but I couldn't not get enough participation to make it happen.  BUT next year I am taking a team to a tournament and we are going to host a tournament here.  I will put out the information here and hopefully we can get Rips team to head down south for a tournament.  Maybe get a home and home series happening either before the season or post season.
