Welcome. There's another outfit in Kissimmee that flies Texans, too, but that's too far for daily dogfights as well, I suppose. Well, where you are there's sure to be folks in the community that pay attention to that kinda stuff - look up some USAF off-duty hangouts and ask around.
Thread hijack - how's that area to live in? Taxes, schools, cost of living, property costs, community culture, etc. The company I work for owns a cluster of properties there (Port St. Joe, Panama City, Santa Rosa Beach, Destin, Fort Walton Beach) so that area is a possible advancement destination for me.
culero (I'm already used to saltwater and hot humid climates
)
do you work for st. joe corp? (they own lots and lots of clusters of land here is why i ask. )
i live in south walton county.
property taxes are somewhat higher than average in most areas and way way high on the gulf side of highway 98. same in okaloosa county (destin ft.walton beach).
the culture is tourism for the most part and lots and lots of military on both sides (eglin, herlburt and tyndall) so there is a real transient element to the universe here. outside of destin where i am there are a bit more constants.
it's not very populated in the off season months. (we get to go out to all of our favorite restaurants now that it's not crazy...yay)
if you want to lay out on the beach and have a margarita, this is the place to be. if you want to go to a museum or catch an indi film, well its a bit sparse in that dept.
property values are currently wayyyy overinflated. of course, real estate agents like to to tell me that i am wrong, but they are also all trying to sell something. only the ones selling are the ones who cater to the uber-rich.
i am told that okaloosa county has good schools and walton county schools are getting better.
if i knew more about what you were looking for, i could probably tell you more about where you might want to look here.
