Gift Card Holiday Scam

Just an FYI - don't buy your gift cards at the grocery store check-out or other stores that offer these cards!

Well the crooks have found a way to rob you of your gift card balance now.

If you buy Gift Cards from a display rack that has various store cards you may become a victim of theft.  Crooks are now jotting down the card numbers in the store and then wait a few days and call to see how much of a balance you have on the card.  Once they find that the card has been activated they will then go online and start shopping.  You may want to purchase your gift cards from a customer service person, where they do not have the Gift Cards viewable to the public.

good info, and just in time for christmas too.

also something to think about...
a couple went to Best Buy and bought a camcorder.  got home and opened up and found a large jar of spageitti sauce, some phone jack line, and plastic box.   They took it back to Best Buy but they would not give them a replacement camera.   Sony however heard about and replaced the camera.    Of particular interest was the jar of sauces weighed 1lb 10ozs and the camera's weight was listed as 1lb 11ozs.

better check your purchases before you leave the store ;)
