Biggest Movie Disappointments
« on: November 30, 2006, 03:44:05 PM »
For me, the one that stands out is casting Jodie Foster's dad as the Alien in "Contact".

I remember being young, staying up late at night, watching that crappy film in anticipation of seeing the alien.

I wanted slime, i wanted lots of legs and eyes, i wanted green skin... and it was her ****ing dad.

what a disappointment.

Pearl Harbor kinda covers both of those for me  Though it does deliver in a MST3K manner.

That's easy for me.

George Lucas' writing and directing the first 3 episodes of Star Wars.

I can't even watch epi. 4 - 6 now without thinking "what could have been..."

Bastard ruined my biggest childhood thrill.

All of the Jaws sequels...

Making a movie about a man's conflicted sexual desires, putting him in an F-14, and calling it Top Gun...

Casino Royale... James Bond wins all the chips after going all-in on a hand... with a far lower chip count to begin with. Not exactly how poker works.

In Gladiator you can see gas cylinders on the back of some of the chariots.

Oh come on, you KNEW Pearl Harbor was gonna suck.  Michael Bay?  Ben Affleck?  How could it avoid the suckage???

Personally, I really love TLOTR but that's an entirely different debate.

The Fountain.  Geez, was that an awful movie.  It is officially the worst movie I have ever seen now.  Displacing Pulp Fiction and Battlefield Earth as the worst ever.

What was even worse;  I have not been to a movie in about 6 months.  Missed some really good ones to end up seeing this garbage.
