I know the argument has always been that 2 countries won't work. That being said, with the complaining and the numbers imbalance, how much worse could it be?
So since we're testing stuff, what if we could try something like the following. And bear with some of the silliness, it's what husband/father types do while waiting for wife and daughter to finish shopping.
Imagine if you will the peacefully coexisting countries of pWN Land and zOMFG Land, on the shores of the Sudz Ocean.
One day on the border of the two countries, between the Hitech Mountains and the Pyro Peaks, a magical sheep is discovered, soon to be named the "Golden Skuzzy".
Both countries claim the Golden Skuzzy for thier own and war breaks out.
OK enough of the back story for this fabled war.
The Ground Rules:
-Two countries. 2 new names. No loyalty to a chess piece from the past getting in the way.
-Country cap on numbers. Say its 400 tops, 200 each side tops.
-No ENY. Jets enabled at the rear fields near the capitals. Fly whatever the heck you want otherwise.
-No maps with lines. Hopefully the mountain ranges steer people into the gaps. Also plenty of places for GV action. In theory I'd have a tank town either dead center or on one of the edges so the GV guys can shoot at each other in piece.
-The Navys are involved. With enough water and the coastline, those CV's become more important and all those 'end around' experts can try for their "Inchon Landings".
Airfields and V bases with the same ack as at present all over the place.
Have at it.
With only 1 front to watch, potentially the defenders will have an easier time and hopefully with a country limit on numbers, folks will see some point to trying to even it out.
After all, who wouldn't want to claim the "Golden Skuzzy" as their own?
Dumbing it all down is the key I think.
Map is purely a quick lash up to illustrate the point. It's not to scale and obviously I didn't place airfields and V-bases.
