Odd.
I dont remember mentioning anyone in particular.
And I applied the statements to both sides of the isle.
How is it your the only one that seemed to get offended?
Persecution complex perhaps?

Tut tut

If all one does is think with a bias one way or the other.
Then its not true thinking. Its simply reacting

Then perhaps it is well they be offered an alternative mode of thinking as an option.

Dred, he may be well spoken and polite in the public eye, but in person hes a real Richard-head.  Not that I believe its necessary to be a NICE guy to be President, we tried that with Clinton and look where it got us.  :)  As a conservative Democrat, and as probably the only person on this BBS that has actually met Mr. Obama, I can honestly say I'd rather vote for McCain than him.  He's very class-concious and treats "little people" like total sh**.  As long as there are no cameras around anyway.  When he spoke at the Democratic Natl. Convention, I firmly believed he would run for (and win) the election in 2012.  Now I'm very afraid he will win the election in 2008.  Heck, I'd vote for Hillary before I'd vote for him, if only because she's so well hated that she'd do less damage in the long run.  Obama might just fool enough people long enough to do lasting damage.  He scares me.

All I know about him is what I've read and seen on TV.

Fortunately I dont vote based on like or dislike alone.
Hell I repeatedly said I didnt like Bush but I voted for him anyway LOL

My primary concern is anyone who only goes with party lines.
The whole class distinction thing when it comes to top people in big business or government is pretty common among them unless the commoner (little people) suits their needs at that particular time.
then they can act all buddy buddy. Then as soon as the commoner doest suit their neds anymore its "bye bye lardass"
So that really doesnt surprise me.

I cant and wont vote for Hillary for several reasons. 1 because I simply hate her guts LOL  also because she is such an obvious fraud.

She is a HARD core left winger only recently moving to the center to garner support for her run
And I also beleive she will be as terrible not to mention devisive for the country as a whole as Bush was.

As things stand now barring someone magnificent running. Which doesnt seem likely fomr either side I am probably voting either Libretarian or will abstain out of disgust

As for Obama. Im in wait and see mode. I will be monitoring him to see what he is about politically.

Odds are he and I will never be hanging out together so how he is as a person is of little consequence LOL

Some of us have a bet outside of AH.  You know, one of those death ones.

I know I drink alot but I've got you on the top of my list.  I think that not only are you drinking too much but you are probably also taking something to keep you 'up' from the downs.

It seems like things are swinging your way, don't make me make money that I'd rather not 'earn'.

[edit] Seriously, I really don't like you.  I think you're a fool and an arrogant one, but that doesn't mean that I would like to see you dead.  As one human to another, take care of youself.

dred...  I responded because your response was right under my post.

I think that you are not looking at things in a critical thinking method tho when you say that you vote based on it.

I vote based on party affiliation and voting record of candidate combined... you need to combine the two.... you may have noticed how.... in the past... the person of a particular party will vote along party lines when push comes to shove... even if that is not what you wanted or expected him to do.

It is far better for instance if, say, you think the second amendment is important.. that you not watch the candidate duck hunting and figure you are safe voting for him....  it would be far better to pick up a copy of the American Rifleman around election time and see the rating that the NRA gives him.

Oh...  Americans will not vote for a woman or a black man.   It is not that the Americans have baggage it is that women and black men have too much gender and race baggage still that they are carrying around.

When 80% of blacks all vote one way then it is easy to see that there is a difference.   You can't PC or soundbite or shame the reality away.

We are not ready as a people and the blacks are not ready as a race to put race asside.   We are ready to pretend tho sooooo... continue on pretending.

It wouldnt be because they are black, or women (or both)-- It's just that most nationally-known members of these 2 groups are flaming liberals, and more importantly, NEVER stop reminding us that they ARE in fact, black, or female (or both)--Not-so-subtly implying that their loyalties are ONLY to these groups. Being a middle-class white guy, WHY would I vote for Maxine Waters or Charles Rangel, or John Conyers or Barbara Mikulski or Shillary? I would rightly conclude that my interests are going to be skewered in favor of their narrow interests. Having said that, Colin Powell would PROBABLY be president right now, had he chosen to run--he is who he is, but he is an american first, not a black man first (Condi rice probably in same category, but she hates politics--obviously a smart chick)

(edit) fergot Michael Steele, a black man who WOULd be the Republican senator from Maryland right now had he switched parties to Dem-- The Washington Post trashed him continously for the last year, as well as the 'African-American' segment of our political world. He committed a crime, which was to be a black man in the Gop--As it was, he nearly won

I don't believe any person of color will ascend to the presidency of the United States any time soon.  There is a waspish control of that office that not even the italians have been able to broker into. based on this observation I believe barak hussein obama doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of ever attaining that honor.  I don't believe he deserves to lead this nation and I believe many will agree with this assessment.  I do think that it's good that the democrats think him to be viable candidate for the nation's highest office.  Let's sit back and watch them fritter away this opportunity in the same way the republicans did after the 1946 mid term elections.

I to am in the wait and see category when it comes to Obama.

He seems well spoken and has not done anything bad (that we know about) that would warrant my disapproval.

He is the only Dem I would consider voting for at this point. The Repubs haven't shown me anything yet.

Color and Sex are irrelevant to me unless they use either in their campaign.

It should  be about what you stand for and what you are going to do for/to the United States.

If you are looking at Sex and Color to decide how to vote then you shouldn't be voting.
