Berger stole 911 documents, is sentenced.
« on: December 20, 2006, 07:37:46 PM »
Amazing! Of course, Clinton was blameless for the lack of security for our nation leqading up to 911, that's why he sent Sandy Burger into the National Archives so he could stuff related documents into his pants and shoes....later to be destroyed.

http://apnews.excite.com/article/20061221/D8M4TNQ80.html

Clinton cronie, Sandy Berger pleaded guilty to removing classified documents related to the investigation of 911.

Quote
"President Clinton's national security adviser removed classified documents from the National Archives, hid them under a construction trailer and later tried to find the trash collector to retrieve them"

I'm sure there was a good reason for all of this.

Quote
"Berger took the documents in the fall of 2003 while working to prepare himself and Clinton administration witnesses for testimony to the Sept. 11 commission. Berger was authorized as the Clinton administration's representative to make sure the commission got the correct classified materials."

I'll bet Slick Willy had no prior knowlege of Bergers plans.

Quote
"He headed toward a construction area. ... Mr. Berger looked up and down the street, up into the windows of the Archives and the DOJ (Department of Justice), and did not see anyone," the interview notes said.

He then slid the documents under a construction trailer, according to the inspector general. Berger acknowledged that he later retrieved the documents from the construction area and returned with them to his office.

"He was aware of the risk he was taking," the inspector general's notes said. Berger then returned to the Archives building without fearing the documents would slip out of his pockets or that staff would notice that his pockets were bulging.

The notes said Berger had not been aware that Archives staff had been tracking the documents he was provided because of earlier suspicions from previous visits that he was removing materials. Also, the employees had made copies of some documents.

In October 2003, the report said, an Archives official called Berger to discuss missing documents from his visit two days earlier. The investigator's notes said, "Mr. Berger panicked because he realized he was caught."

Can you believe that Berger was actually barred from accessing the National Archives for three whole years! That's too severe!

The Clintons are probably in no way involved in this though.

Well, Sandy Berger probably didn't steal the classified documents relating to the 911 investigation for his own benifit. What motive would he have?

And what does Iraq have to do with 911?

The fact is that Berger did get caught red-handed. Not sure how that translates into your statement that Clinton hid Iraqs WMD.

More likely is that Clinton had Berger steal documents that made him look like an even a more of incompetent leader than he has already been known to be.

Think the MSM will cover this?

Where is Dan Rather when you need him?  :rofl

Oh wait, this doesnt reflect poorly on Bush, but might reflect negatively on Clinton, so of course they will probably ignore it.

Here's what pisses me off

Berger pleaded guilty to unlawfully removing and retaining classified documents. He was fined $50,000, ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and was barred from access to classified material for three years.

Repub or dem doesn't matter.....If I as an active duty member did this I'd be seeing hard labor for a minimum of 5 years.

Where's the justice again?  How are we to hold our politicians and political appointees accountable if they do not go to real "pound me in the arse" federal prison (office space)

That pissed me off too.

Also, why wasn't this whole thing investigated to the end? I'd bet anything that Clinton was involved. This is at least as bad as Watergate........probably 10 times worse.

At the very least, Berger should be in jail.

I've yet to see with certainty whether he manged to destroy any ORIGINALS..I had read his motive was the papers with little (incriminating/embarrassing) handwritten nots on the outer edges, which apparently had the ability to make Clinton look bad---(ok..worse) I bet Jack Bauer could get the info out of him:aok

Reminds of the current administration scrubbing the Whitehouse.gov site of embarrassing statements, 'facts' and other smelly fecal matter.

In the current crop of politicos there are very few I'd trust to come into my home. Statements they make are always geared to push forward whatever politcal goal they may have.

We need a government that is for the people rather than for the continued reelection of these self serving and highly corrupt power mongers.

Isn't it funny how the press went after Scooter Libby for a crime that never occured? All the stops were pulled in that case, and nobody had a case.

It amazes me that Berger admitted to taking the documents and trying to destroy and alter them, and he gets a slap on the wrist and very little press coverage for his crimes. He then gets to have access to the archives AGAIN after 3 years. "Only in America" as they say.

And these documents were supposed to be given to a 911 investigation panel in order to figure out what went wrong prior to 911, and to determine what to fix. Totally amazing that he's not in jail.

I hope someone takes this on and ivestigates the watermelon out of this. I heard that some group has already requested that the contents of the original and the altered documents be made available.

Clinton is more than likely behind this. The man has no problems sacrificing national security for his personal agenda and/or "legacy".

What would they say?  Remember, the same goof-troop that allowed 911 to happen, whoever that may be, also had the means to figure out the culprits within 48 hours.  So you see, some questions are better left unanswered.
