Very good online tutorial - even if you are a non-pilot its useful.

Maybe United's pilots need to read that...

Did they?  You're a pilot Golfer, would you taxi a plane into a snow bank when the line is quite clearly marked?  I understand certain conditions are out of their control but in my opinion, the fault lies largely on the pilot.

That was kind of a hint at "What are you getting at"

I still don't know what you're getting at.

We were the last flight to leave DIA on Wednesday, in spite of the high wind and blowing snow, we were set to fly, after push back the pilot starts taxiing.  Not more then 30 seconds we come to a stop again, pilot comes over the intercom and says he's run into a wind row and he'll need some assistance being pulled out.

Had the pilot maintained the semi cleared patch where the line was, I'd be in St Louis right now.  It's not quite about flying but it's still in the area of operating a plane in winter conditions.

Well given that you had a clear view out the front window I'll defer to you.

You do know there's a blizzard there, right :)

I know there's a blizzard here, I just figured that he had plenty of room to move before his slid into the snow, it was 3 hours on there and they sure did try to get it out of there but instead of using their super tug the 1st hour they waited 3 hours, United's fault.  I've e mailed Orbitz and United about our return tickets, I don't see us getting to St Louis before the day we were supposed to return anyway.

It's all about laying blame somewhere, and right now United has it's head in the guillotine.

S*** happens, nirvana.  Tis a bummer it caught you this time.  We've all been there :(  Denver to St. Louis?  Was that mainline United or a codeshare partner flying as an "Express".  From there it's either Trans States or GoJet that takes you to STL under the United Express flag.  What type of aircraft?

I know, I'm just *****ing right now.  The first flight was a Trans States ERJ 145, I got an e mail from Orbitz at 3 or 4 AM saying it was canceled.  On the second flight, the flight attendant was more then an hour late.  Had he been there on time, perhaps it would have made a difference and that's what makes me mad.  The fact we sat on the plane for 3 hours while they had the necessary equipment to takes us out adds to my anger over the situation.  As you said, **** happens.

Ahh ... ice.

Did my first ILS/snowed runway landing recently. I love flying in the midwest, it's a new learning experience for me. We fly pistons and turbines, in Idao we are right in the ice, high MEAs and below 25K perfs. A valuable learnign experience for my pilot skills.

Yuk ... tail stalling for 50 miles, I guess the maintenance will trust me when I tell them the boots don't work too good.

From this morning, ILS, snowed in airport, a bit bounced by the wind on final plus short field landing. Beats cruising at FL400 with $$$ in the back.:D
