I agree with you, there is a time and a place. Disengaging to rtb for fuel or ammo, or disengaging because there are 3-10 of us on your butt is one thing, but I have single-handedly, on-my-own, away-from-anything, chased multiple aircraft that were supposed to be superior to mine all the way home.

Now, extending from me to maneuver is also a valid tactic. I've had plenty do that. They'll move out 1-2K then reverse and engage. Usually ends in decent fight (with me "learning" or dying, however you want to phrase it).

No, if a P-51 or LA-7 or Tempest or any of the other uber-craft run from a one-on-one from me in my spit9, everybody on 200 will hear about it.

I lied.  Wouldn't ya know the day I post this some guy pisses me off so bad I start trashing him on Ch. 200.

I was in my Spit XVI, had a few kills, out of fuel and gliding home.  I had a high con @ ~20K parallelling me the whole glide home.  As I glide to a safe landing on the runnway I see that it's a Typh now at about 5-10K.  As I come to a stop Boom!  Dead!

I was pissed.  I immediately jumped back in my Spit to go kill the B*****d, calling him names on Ch. 200.

Guess what?  He Ran!

He was faster than me.  I couldn't catch him.  I kept calling him out to turn and fight like a man.  One of my faster countrymen was now chasing him too.

I'm not sure if my fellow Bish killed him or he augered into a mountainside running in fright.

Guess he just caught me at the wrong time.  It's not like I've NEVER done something similar but it seemed like such a lame tactic especially diving in from 20K against a landing plane then running without being man enough to fight a real fight.

Go ahead, continue to defend running.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

He could have saved a lot of bandwidth by creating a single thread called, "I'm dredger, and if I miss my HO pass, I'm going to run like a frightened little girl".

What a mook.

People are supset when they see this thread.  Why?

1.  You fly to your planes advantage.  That means you fly with an advantage and can shoot down other players and not get shot down yourself.

AH chorus:  That's not fair!  Waaah.

2.  You use the features of your plane which puts you at an advantage.  HO with a four cannon Typhoon kills others without getting shot down yourself.

AH chorus:  That's not fair!  Waaah.

3.  You run when you lose your advantage.  Others have a hard time shooting you down.

AH chorus:  That's not fair.  Waaah.

Other than chosing a boring way to fly, you should appreciate the grief inflicted on the whiners from not flying like an idiot.

Regards,

Malta

And the point I am making is that running is sometimes your only option.

Lier! You always have an option! Running isnt always the only option left to you! Look at this picture. Its called dinner!

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

You forgot to mention your holed rad, pilot wound, or other assorted damage.  If you are happy limping home with your one kill every flight, this methodology is for you.*

*Well not every flight.. you will be critically damaged sometimes.
