Open Cockpit weekend at the Airzoo!
« on: January 10, 2007, 07:39:26 AM »
Starting February 1, the Air Zoo (Kalamazoo Michigan) will be opening the cockpit of six different historical aircraft – three during the first two weeks and three during the last two weeks of the month.

The first three aircraft, which will be available February 1-14, include a N2S-5 Kaydet, PT-22 Recruit and a PT-23 Cornell. The final three aircraft, which will be available February 15-28, will include a Hispano HA-1112 Buchon, P-39 Airacobra and a P-47D Thunderbolt.

The Hispano is way cool, sure not a real 109 but it is a movie star (used in the film "The Battle of Britain")

I hope some of you can make it out next month, ask for Tim and I'll give you the dime tour.

I probably can't make it, but I'm certainly going to try!  The only thing better than sitting in the cockpit of a Thunderbolt is flying a Lightning.  And I'd get to see what Fritz had to strap on himself.  I mean strap himself into.

You guys will have to make it for me.  I'm from Kalamazoo, but live in Denver now.  I actually completed their Docent course many years ago.  Say hi to the Buchon for me.  It's a real enough 109, and you're right, has movie significance.  The p39 is also one of only one or two in flying condition in the world (which is why they don't fly it).

Have fun and say Hi to the mock ups for me too!
