Like Batfink said sharing the heartache and sorrow is all good and sentimental, but there's a line to be drawn between individual matters and public matters. 68KO will be missed by many people, but to honor an individual deceased gamer by effecting a part of the game doesn't seem to be appropriate.

Let 68KO's memories rest with his loves ones and friends. It is there where it belongs, not in the game.

but not many members of the community contributed a new event league (even though it was only his idea, and then created and developed by the company), which has become a unique experience online, that you can only get here, and which is a great asset to the HTC package.

We took it on as a squad rather than ask HTC to make an exception to the game as it existed, as it was our private tribute to OZ, maybe the 68th could do the same for KO.

this would be alot better of an ideal for KO alot of folks are going to disagree with what you are wanting. HTC is in need of new maps for the comunity is growing old of current maps. so if you are that gun ho about it might want to take slap up on his ideal. <>

this is also being done, the new air racing map that is coming to completion has also been suggested to receive a name tributed to 68KO, which was also slightly mentioned at the start of the thread....

*EDIT* edited it for pointless abruptness

Maybe a skin for a P51 that would mean something to those who remember him, but yet be a skin that was used for real? Dunno... just tossing out an idea.

Sorry Kweassa I disagree strongly with your premise. Honouring KO for the contributions he made to this community for this community while he was with us is a completely different kettle of fish than honouring him just because he was unfortunate enough to have died. KO earned his way in AH. Not many in the game or on these boards can make a claim to that, you and me included. He, and his memory, deserve to be honoured by the community he served.

Again, not to be blunt detch, but the extent of his presence reaches only so far as to those who knew him, and knew him well. Like Batfink mentioned, it's not exactly an easy thing to judge who gets the honors and who not. Just what kind of 'contibution' does it take for a man to be remembered along the 'official' lines of business?

Since this is a delicate matter I will say no more of this since I've already made my point.

There are games like ww2online that will have a memorial in a town for members who have passed.  I read that someplace.

Why not place a little 'Ester egg' on his favortie map overlooking the White Cliffs and the channel.  Then those who are in favor are happy, and those who feel re-naming a map is too much really have nothing to complain about.

My opinion is that I would be in favor of it.  In fact a single memorial with all names can be done then those who have lost squaddies won't feel left out or that their loss was not as important.

How about names on the O'club wall of the lost pilots?  That would be pretty nice also.  That O'Club outta be used for something.

That is one of the best suggestions I have ever heard with regards to names on the O'club wall...

As for the idea regarding a map, I also was a member of the 13th TAS when OZkansas passed.  The squad took it upon itself to pay another community member to build a map to honor him.  This may be the best way to handle it as well.

Another idea if you truly want to honor 68KO, would be to give in his name to the fund established to help his children.  That in and of itself should and will carry far more significance than this online world.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

I have to agree with a few others here, namely Kweassa and Slapshot.

just a quick 20 minutes of time time has found these:

Woody passing

Strafer passing

Scavenger passing

MJOLLNIR passing

Foxbat passing

Crzyhrs passing

VX passing

Mojo passing

SKRBROFR passing

bobn passing

Scrappy passing

All but 2 or 3 of them I personally remember flying with / against in the past.

All of them were a member of the community in some way, as to who's more important than another I do not think it is any of our rights to say. They all are and will continued to be missed  in some way.

If my cursory look for this information is any indication of the number of AH players that have passed I think we need to realize many, many people deserve respect, and remembrance.

That all I have to say about it. <> all.

(btw seeing some of those old posts sure brings back memories of some of the pilots named. it is truly a shame)

MRS.KO here..
to those who are for a rememberance dedicated to my husband 68KO.
As he did alot and was honored to be a part of the AH community.  I feel as tho he should have some kind of memorial out of respect, but as I see, some are not agreeing on that.

To those of you who thought of it and agree...I thankyou from the bottom of my heart as well as KO's 2 little ones. It means more than you know!!!

We love you KO!!!

WEll mustaine,  if the loss of KO brings back the memory of those pilots then perhaps its time we do something for ALL.

There is room on the wall of the O'Club.  I say we 'get er done'.  Start submitting names folks.

HTC, what say you??

Sorry to disagree with kweesa again, and I do understand he means well...but...

Threads both on open forum and private **PigStompers** & 347th FG Forums on 68KO....if you sat down to tried and READ THEM ALL in ONE DAY....that's gonna be your whole day....

On memorial fly-over ceremony day...over 235 pilots from:  USA, Canada, UK (Ireland, England & Scotland represented), Finland, Sweden, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Russia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Serbia, Germany, Slovenia, (and that's just the ones I recognized and saw later on the video I took) represented....some at 2 and 3 AM their own local time to show their respects.  And THAT'S just the ones who could MAKE the one-hour time frame...

If you enjoy Friday Night Squad Operations, Extreme Racing League...then you drove over the road that 68KO helped to build with his own concern, and dogged spirit/time/effort.  (Thanks to the coordination with HTC, Inc.)

I guess what I am trying to say (and a few hundred like me) is that it is due to his deeds and works that he be honored, in this game, in some way.

I'm a simple player, and 99% of those who log in and play are, but there is that 1% who go above and beyond to do things--create things, organize things, bring about changes that the rest of us enjoy but never (usually) --like the pig under the acorn tree--look up to be thankful for where it came from.

Thank you 68KO.

Like I stated above:

.....for the ones who changed the face of the game...we CAN

.....for those who made a difference...we CAN.

For those who sacrificed time, effort, research, to make the game better for EVERYONE....YEAH...we CAN.

Can I get an AMEN?

It would seem fitting, and no doubt 68KO would agree, that everyone who actively plays this game, or has since retired, and passes away deserves to be memorialized in game on an respectfully equal basis.

Ask HTC to build a memorial plaque in this game somewhere that honors everyone, and for 68KO, who appears to have had a larger than average contribution to the game, name a map after him or an event.  It seems appropriate to me.  But lets not have a map and a event and a town and a city and a lake and a mountain and a skin and a arena and a......well........you get the picture. Lets pay our respects, make our tributes, take our time to grieve in game and keep it real.

to all you guys that knew him so well and were touched by him, but your not the entire community here (235 peeps is what percent of 5000 subscribers?), so lets bring the whole picture into focus here, the entire community.  Lets keep it real for the sake of the larger community.

And you guys with the page turning avatars....any way to turn those off, Im getting seizures :aok

This seems like a fitting idea. And well spoken I might add.

As a few have said in reference to the Racing League.

I went into the Racing maps a few times early in its development and KO was there to help me.

It was me and one other player there besides KO.

Right away KO asked me if I needed help or was i just practicing?

I told him it was the first time there for me.

He then asked me if I wanted to follow him through the course, to which replied i would.

We spent a long time flying time and time again through the course.

Had a lot of laugh's (Mostly at me) :D

Even though I never returned for racing ( Wasn't very interested)

I have thought back several times about the fun we had and the good taste it left in my mouth due to KO's light heartedness and his ability to laugh at me and make me feel as though I was not being laughed at but rather being laughed with.

If KO was the founder or even co/founder of the racing league...then by all means it would be fitting to make his mark visible to present and future AH players in that venue.

Thanks KO.  S!

Yeah, he sounds like a hellagood guy.  Good to know of folks like that in life.  Its a good memory to leave with people.

I went into a air race map in the h2h thingy last year......did he do that in the h2h arenas?
