Not trying to take away 68ko. He will be missed. But there are many in here that have done alot for Players of AH. Some do it with time and some do it with money.

LETS see shane dies. Would most of you remember him always willing to teach in DA. Or fester and his maps, I could go on and on. I personally have paid for multiple players account s for upto 6months free, given away video cards, joysticks, memory and even complete computer systems. and I know of many more who at drop of hat willing to help out another ah'er. Do I want or think i should get a field or map in honor nope did it because i could. And if 68ko was as good a player as some have said then i really doubt he did it for reconigation, but simply for the fun of the game. Grim who most think as loud mouth sometimes, was first to offer complete furniture for us when house burnt down. PS most things didn't always go for squadmates but to guys i only knew cpid.

68ko started a racing league because thats what he wanted. now raceing league named after him then I'm all for it. But to think he was better than alot of others i'm sorry.

The commissioned map is a proven method for this kind of thing, and doesn't have any of the problems associated with any of the other types of commemorative suggestions brought forth so far. And, it benefits everyone.

I remember seeing that Fester's P-51D was 68KOs favorite skin.  Surely he had a favorite fighter group and plane out of all the Mustangs.  Why not commission Fester to do a 51D skin in rememberance?  An elegent solution that absolves HTC from any weighty decisions and entirely appropriate as a memorial to someone who liked the P-51D.

Cheers,
Fencer

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.  68KO contributed so much to this game, that if you were to ask anyone that is affiliated in a professional way with HTC, they would tell you that it truly is an honor well deserved.  This is different than alot of online games in that the administrators are battling along side of you as your equal.  They are a bigger part of this game than just being programmers.  What you're not seeing is that all of the people in here, in this community are begging for something to be done in his honor.  Ultimately, it is HiTech's decision, but for YOU to say that it has no place here, I personally find offensive, and I wasn't in his squad, nor one of his great friends on this game, I just had the honor of flying with him in a few scenarios.

So do us all a favor, and before you enter a thread like this and make a post, take a second and think about the level of offense you have the potential to generate by your statement.  Just because it's there, doesn't mean that you have to look at it, or even acknowledge it, ignore it if you want, but don't you dare say that it has no place here, because YOU ARE WRONG!!!

Take it east gents.  This issue need not deteriorate.  68KO meant more to certain people on here than others.  I personally never participated in Air Races here so have no idea KO was involved in it.

There are many here who contribute to the community whether it be as a CM, a person who is helpful in the arenas or someone who gives unwanted computer hardware.  I think most of us who have been here a while can honestly say we have made a difference in some way.

The passing of 68KO brings this issue up of rememberance.  I think it is time that we payed tribute to our friends who have shared much of their time here.  Whether it be a skin, map or whatever.

The O'Club idea came to me because I wanted to think of something we can do for all lost members past and future that gives EQUAL share in a memorial.  As far as how it is done, I think that you can send an e-mail to HTC regarding the loss or even post here and it can be taken care of.

It would not even need to be fancy.  A 'chalk board' on the wall with a list of names and callsigns.  I really don't think it is asking alot.

for those who didnt get to see the 68KO Memorial Flight here is a link to a video with footage of it.

If this video doesnt show you how many people miss KO and were able to attend this flight and those who couldnt wished they could have been there.

<------  "Oz" in the avatar. A truly great person, helped a lot of folks in the game. I knew him personally, took him to doctor's appointments, had lunch with him and such. I was with him when he died. Hurt pretty bad when he finally lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

I and other former TAS remember him in our avatar...we choose to do so.

We commissioned a map, named it for him; OzKansas. Sadly, it's not in the rotation anymore but I may call HT and see what kind of revisions it would take to get it back up.

Again, a choice a few of us made.

I suggest that those who choose to remember 68KO do so and proudly.

But do it yourselves, don't require it of HTC.

That said, I think a wall of names in the O'Club might be a possiblity if HTC chooses to do so. I just wonder how long before someone fakes a story to get their name up on the wall.

Impossible you say? Just review the history of hoaxes on this BBS; it's probable, not impossible.

A tough call, but I think the folks suggesting 68KO's squad do something, are on the right track.  It would be way tough for HTC to know where to draw the line on who is remembered where and how.

I lost my 21 year old son 16 months ago.  He flew AH with me.  I miss him more then I hope you can ever imagine.  Sometimes I still pull out the old films of he and I winging up just to remind me of the fun we had here.

I don't think it's HTC's place to remember Drew in the game though.  It's up to me to make sure he isn't forgotten just as it's 68KO's friend's and family's job to make sure he isn't forgotten.

My deepest condolances to Mrs 68KO.  Nothing meant as any disrespect to her late husband who I also had the chance to fly with on a couple of occasions.

Mrs68KO,

Your late husband had a powerful and positive effect on many people who play this game.  Many of us, most of us I believe.... understand the depth of you and your loved ones loss.

Believe me, as we haggle over ideas on if, how, what, where, when, why, why not and other such issues dealing with our system of online community remembrance, that this is what we do here in the O'club.  We haggle over everything.  Its in our nature to debate.  Mostly it stays cool, a few get over the top.  It should in no way be construed to represent anything but the flow of ideas in motion. Its a freedom I guess.  I just wanted to say this, and I am positive that EVERYONE here, has nothing but the most sincere respect for you and all your entire extended family in your time of deep personal grief.  Just wanted to say that.
