Hey guys, this is Roadr, used to play Air Warrior.

Anyways, having problems with my sidewinder and software. Havent played flight sims in a couple of years so here goes. I try to download the sidewinder software for my computer and it says error, cannot find the specific file. I tried just plugging the controller in and using a generic joystick through the control panel to no eval,

can someone tell me what to do and how to fix it pleasE?

Is your Sidewinder gameport or USB?

I think I had to quit using my gameport Sidewinder and switch to a USB model about the time I upgraded to Windows XP.

Uh, you've been gone awhile.

Unfortunately, MS quit making joysticks. I'm dreading the day when my MSFF2 dies. If you have to get a new stick, search the forums for more definitive information.

Lack of knowledge has never kept me from expressing an opinion: Avoid Logitech sticks. Saitek X52 may be ok. Buy the replacement plan and keep your receipt. Top of the line is still CH.

i was able to download it with no problem, about 6 megs
Did you select save as when you downloaded it?

i used to have MS sidewinder FF pro, and i did not use MS software. I just plugged it in and let windows recognize it. it performed admirably till i upgraded to CH gear.

My logitech stick still works as if new out of the factory, I see nothing wrong with it. And what precisely is "CH"?

Roadr, Windows should recognize your stick just plugging it into USB. No software needed. You've probably done the stupid Windows tricks like plugging it in then rebooting, trying different USB ports, etc. At this point I will acknowledge my inability to be of any help. Sorry.

If you have WinXP and are up to date on Service Packs, you need no files or downloads to install a MS Sidewinder stick. Simply plug it in.

If it's USB it should auto-detect and install properly.

If it's gameport (as with mine) go to Start > Control Panel > Game Controllers. Click the "Add" button then scroll down to "Microsoft SideWinder (Autodetect)" and you're all set. If you have more than one gameport (like me) you need to select the proper gameport when adding the new stick.

Then calibrate and you're set.

I try to go into the control panel, but it says the game ports arent properly configured???

MY stick3D Pro Plus, used to just plug into the back... it came with aUSB adapter... but nothing happens? ANy other suggestions??? I think the USB adaper could be broke

Im gunna replace the adapter tomarrow to see if it gets rconized... hey guys, any other suggestions?

I think it will only work with gameport on XP. Won't work with adapter.
Anyway thats what I've been told by those that use them.
