It was a good little computer....NOW I got to select a new mb and chip that I may get chased down like a dog in my P47 again---HAD an Athlon 3200 (which operates around 2.2 gig) and an Asus k8vse...or somethin like that--(does raid, though I never fired that up)---Have an FX5700 agp card for video. What I'm noticing is the PCI Express seems to be the thing now, but I REALLY dont wanna buy a vid card as well--do they make mb's that accept pci express AND AGP cards?

Almost any MB you get will have at least one AGP slot, so you should be ok.

Asrock makes one for the Core 2 Duo that a couple guys here had.

ASRock is in my opinion a very good motherboard for the money.

I am thinking of that ASRock mb and E6400 CPU and useing my old stuff .


Seems AH likes CPU power more than Video . Guess it's all that bullet and flight computing it does . Anyway the video upgrades I have done really didn't do much .

airspro. in my opinion i would look at one that allows for more memory. the one you picked only holds 2gigs of ram. the other one that Dave pointed out holds 4. With vista coming out and the way allot of processes use ram more is better. plus its only $10 more. Not to mention it supports pciexpress x1 & x16.

Thanks for the input guys! However, it occured to me that if I got a newer mb, I'd have to get a newer cpu, new vid card (cant find one that has agp AND pci express, new power supply (btx boards cant use atx power supply), and prolly newer ram? Likely 500-700 bucks. Anyhow, the pain in my upper jaw tells me I'm gettin a @%% root canal this week, ($500 out of pocket, after insurance pay $700 or so) wife quittin her job in a couple weeks to take a break from a crappy job (and she prolly gonna get 'female surgery' soon, depending on results of mri this week)---- found same mb that I have KvMX (about same as the SV) for 59 bucks on tigerdirect. Upgrade pc another day:cry

(I only have 1 gig of ram...windows task manager never says that more than 50% of it is being used, yet I see that many guys have many times MORE than that...in what ways does it help?--I DO get hard drive hammering from time to time....?)

Are you sure its the motherboard and not the cpu? Or are you buying both?  Are you getting any beeps (make sure the MB speaker is hooked up ) from it , or does it just spin up the fans ? Just curious . 38

doesnt even begin to turn on, which made me assume power supply....(before this happened, the pc died while running TWICE in a span of 30 min---were no power flicks anywhere else) bought one of them to start out with (DOES have the little green light in corner of mb tho) Also, before this, the cpu fan jack went intermittent, and the thing would start  to over heat--bought new cpu fan, problem remained --plugged it into 'power fan' jack adjacent to it, fan ran steadily. Cpu may yet be damaged, but I'm guessing a socket 754 Athlon cpu isnt nearly as expensive as the newest
