Be sure to use a joystick as the game is simply too much hassle with a mouse. If you do not have one already look at getting something with either a twisty stick or rocker for rudder control. Later when you are hooked on it you can go shopping for a some top end gear and separate rudder pedals.

You can never have too many buttons for use in AH.

Otherwise just work follow the links in the previous post to learn all about setting up. It really is not difficult.

Welcome Lock..

You just did the best thing you could do. Ask questions.

If you don't have a stick you do definately need one.  As Spatula posted read all of the help files out there.  Get comfortable off line and then head to the TA.

Reading these boards is a great way of figuring out out basics and theories that you then try to put in to practice.

Listen to the trainers and pay attention to what they say here and in the training area.  Each of them is a superior flyer and genuinely want to help out.

Good luck and as I was told 'welcome to your new addiction'

yea i looked at all that stuff already and i am still clueless i left all the settings the way they were default i guess..i have read from the links but like i said in my 1st post i really am just to dumb with setting this stuff up i play AMERICAS ARMY and BATTLEFIELD 2 setting those up were very simply but these are to much for me.

i have played a few hours now and to be honest it's boring as hell but i am sure thats because i dont have everything set up right also, from what i have read the games seems like a ton of fun but maybe it's just not for me.and i would need a lot more than 2 weeks to learn the basics of the game so i dont think i would pay $15 a month to learn.

thanks for responding back to my post

Lock&Load,

I think we need more specifics before anyone can give you any help.

Does the game load?  Can you get into the off-line arena?  Can you see your clipboard?  Can you start your engine?

I don't think anyone wants to write a 100 page disertation.  Tell us specifically where you are having trouble and maybe we can help.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

L&L if they're questions that you don't want to post feel free to pm them to me if you like.  The basic beginner questions I'll be more than happy to help with.  Once you get past that you'll want to move on to the trainer corps or some of the more accomplished folks on here.

Trust me this game is addictive once you get in the air

Get close for shooting. The distance to target can be read in the icon... its in yards. Start shooting only when the target shows 400 or less.... 200 is optimum.

There is a printable version of that write up (in PDF format) linked at the top of the article. Print it out and follow the instructions in game one by one. If you have any trouble, let us know exactly what the issue is, and well help you then.

i also know nobody wants to write a 100 page disertation thats why i said thanks to you guys for posting back to me i can see this game takes more than just a good computer and sound card to play it.

Aces High has a very steep learning curve. Its a full blown simulation that needs a lot more then ASDW and spacebar to fire. But its worth it if you do not mind putting a little time and effort into a game. If you prefer a some more immediate success, then Aces High is definitly not your game. It takes weeks to get decent, and years to relly excell.... and even then theres good and bad days :).

when i read the forums and help sections it's like it chinese to me again thanks guys for replying back. i will look around some more with in the next 2 weeks and see how it goes i can see it changing much tho but i will look around some more

If you havent gone online yet, then wait on it untill youre a little more comfortable with the game for your free trial period. You can always go to the 8 Player mode (thats player hosted rooms with a max of 8 people), which is free.

Here are a few links you can get started with. You can always PM me or email (Schatzi@hitechcreations.com) me if you do not understand something in the articles.

How to fly:

Also a very important thing to do is setting your views! After all you cannot shoot someone you dont see.

Generally, lots of reading, practicing and most importantly HAVING FUN doing it will help you improve fast.

LocknLoad,

My Freind, you are not alone! I have been at it for 7 months now and I am still below the learning curve. For me, after the basics off line and in the TA, the best thing was to jump in the deep end.

Not that I know a lot, (these Senior Guys know a whole bunch more than me), but I'll be happy to meet with ya in the TA sometime and give ya what I know. I live on the west coast and am on in the A.M. and most evenings after 2100.

Just don't give up....it does get better!
