Hey guys, I'm new to the forums but have been on AH2 for awhile as USNSalr.  Anyways, recently my VOX quit working.  I checked on the control panel and it works, I checked the volume in the preferences and it's on all the way, I tried unistalling and installing, and it still doesn't work.  It worked before, but then I didn't play for two weeks and when I came back it wasn't working.  It doesn't even show anyone's name to confirm that I'm recieving any transmissions.  Anyways, can anyone offer any advice as to what to do?  Is there some little known preference I am yet to find that would affect it?

Hmmm I see someone else has the very same problem I had . I was sick and didn't play for a bit and when I came back it didn't work either :(

I think something has changed in AH2 on there end in the last few days . Anyway here's a link posts on what I did . As of yesterday , most of the MAs are working . Donno about today yet , haven't be on yet . Still got the flu but a little better .

Donno why no reply from Skuzzy yet , must have no ideas for us to try I guess . Something must have changed , I at first thought it was just on my end but now that I am seeing more coming to bb boards for help maybe not .

Anyway gl hope the link helps .

Have you checked that the T and F12 are mapped to operate the mic ?

I find it handy to type the command  .radio 5 Blagard
when I want to check vox myself. you hear yourself on "T" with lag.

of course in your case the command would be .radio 5 USNSalr

I've had something similar the last couple of weeks.  After having absolutely no problems with VOX for the past few years all of a sudden my vox went in the toilet.  Short transmissions seem to come out alright.  Longer ones, or several shorter ones in quick succession start breaking up.  After a short time all that's coming out is the very first sound and then nothing.  Checked my mic, settings in windows, settings in game and everything is set fine but still have major vox problems.  This looks to me to be software related.  Any idea why a system that worked great for several years would all of a sudden go on the blitz?

Hmmm......

You guys able to be HEARD? If so, you may be running into a problem I've had for years (literally).

For me, vix is 100% fine in every arena except the TA and LW Orange. In those arenas, and in only those arenas, Every Single Time, I cannot hear vox at all. All other game sounds are fine. I do not get the name highlight when others talk, to tell me that a transmission is being received. I can be heard just fine, however -- which is the freaky part since send/receive apparently use the same channel. As near as we can tell, SOMETHING between HTC's server and my ISP's cable into the house is slicing off the vox or its identifying info. No one has any idea what is doing it, how its being done, or why it happens.

The bad news is that no one at HTC has any idea what could do this. In fact, Skuzzy at one point told me there is NO WAY that my vox problem could happen, that it makes no sense from a programming or network standpoint. Unfortunately, my computer disagrees with him....  :lol :lol

Gotta admit that I kinda hope you poor guys ARE having the same problem, becuase that might get some resources committed to figuring out what's going on!!

Some testing procedures I've been through to help isolate the problem:

1) Check to see if present with direct connection to modem (ie without router)
2) Make sure no antivirus or firewall has ports blocked in the critical region. (Off the top of my head, I recall that AH vox uses a per session randomly selected port between 2000-6000, though I can't swear to the exact numbers).
3) Check your vox capability on another computer, and if possible another ISP connection. This does not require a fully AH play capable computer -- all you need is to get the program to run, and then go to a hangar and try vxo. Frame rates are irrelevant.
4) And, of course, make sure the obvious stuff is right. (Since its obvious, I assumed everyone has already tried thsi -- but o be sure I'm listing these things anyway.) Go to control panel and make sure the mikes and sound equipment is connected properly, and that appropriate volumes are being generated. Of course, if you're not seeing the "received vox" name ID highlight in the top right corner, its less likely to be a sound issue and more likely to be a network send/recieve problem.

I'm having troubles with mine as well..  For what ever reason I can barely hear anyone that's at close range on Vox. When ever they talk it's like they have a sock in their mouth, it's muffled to the point that you can't really understand anything.

Yet if I join a specific channel it sometimes works fine. Also I can't broadcast anything, meaning no one hears anything I say. I was assuming I had a bad mic or something but that wouldn't explain the issues of me not being able to hear anyone.

Type your in game name in the V channel on the radio , then transmit with the T key . You should hear yourself and see your name come of if Vox is working .

You can trouble shoot the game doing this really easy .

Please if you want your vox to sound better and maybe work better read this Link

Sorry Sim but I wasn't clear.  I can hear everyone fine with no problems at all.  They, on the other hand, can hardly hear me except for very short transmissions although they get the beep and  my transmit name.  I've checked this with the film viewer and confirmed my transmissions are very broken.

I think that it may be because I'm in LW Orange, hopefully action will switch back to LW Blue, until then I'll have to just deal with it.

So Sailor, you have trouble in Orange too? Thats what's happened to Spro and me as well. Can you be heard when you talk in there?

What about in the TA? I can't hear anything in there either.

What is your connection type?

Mace,

how is your connection?
Voice goes over UDP, make sure that AV isnt checking the packages and/or firewall is clear. Also, any sort of connection weirdness always shoots my vox.

Schatzi, a few weeks ago AH went bonkers on me so I had to do a complete uninstall and re-install.  VOX seemed to work fine right after that though.  When I go online I turn AV off and my firewall is setup as it's always been so it shouldn't be that.  The real kicker is that it occurs when trying to record training films in off-line mode so it's not the connection and I use a simple pin plug headset vice USB so that eliminates any possible USB problem.  I'm beginning to thing the only other option I have is to totally reload AH again.

You can try and redownload the game and install it to a SECOND location on your HDD. (I did that a while ago, it works but might mess up your Start Menu and desktop aliases - after I was done, I backed up all settings and stuff and removed BOTH installs completely and went from scratch).

Test if it works with a clean install and default settings. If it does, the issue is somewhere in your settings folder. Copying the files back in one by one can help pinpoint. If it doesnt work with a clean install, its a computer software/hardware problem.

Well I just wantd to confirm that the muffled Vox issue that I'm getting isn't a LW Orange only deal. Early this moring I was in LW Blue and my Vox was working fine as far as me being able to hear people.

Now this afternoon, I looged in to LW Blue and my Vox is totally muffled again. It's like the issue comes and goes, but for me it's not only in LW orange..
